Hi all,
I am looking for some hold down straps / bolts / clips. The same as used on the bonnet of the 2a and 2b.
I need them for the new engine / gearbox and transmission covers I am having made.
Would like to use these original ones to keep it consistent plus the rubber ones looks terrible!
Hope theres some out there somewhere??

You can also try John Craddock in the UK (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/). Part Details 334283 (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/productnos_search.asp?partno=334283) they are £6.08 each + shipping and the male part Part Details 334282 (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/productnos_search.asp?partno=334282) £2.00 + shipping. I have dealt with Richard from the Land Rover orphanage and while he is reliable, his parcels usually come surface mail and take months.
You're not interested in having 2 engine covers made are you? I can loan you an original to copy!

Hi Diana,
Thanks for this info. I will follow up.
Do you have a photo of the 2 engine covers in original state?
If its the shape I am looking for then I would love to borrow a set to template from
Cheers

Oliver
I have an original unmolested engine cover for the SIIB (I have 2 in fact) but the one for the third SIIB is missing.

Image from the 1968 SIIB original sales brochure.
As the one I need won't have an original engine/gearbox combination I was going to get one made to the original shape without the hole for the gearstick.
I don't know about the second engine cover of which you speak. There were 2 main panels on the inside of the wheel arch, which covered the sides of the engine bay and there was a trap door in the floor of the OEM trayback (all my vehicles were cab chassis so didn't get one of those). They are the only original covers that related to the engine that I know of.
Your body was an after-market build, so I suspect that your rear engine cover (if that's what you are thinking about) was a one off special.
If it's the original cover on the seat box, I can loan you one that is currently stripped and primed ready for eventual refinishing when I decide the final colour.

Diana,
That is a great photo. Is that from a marketing manual?
Its great to compare what is still in tact and what has been modified!
I had a closer look today and I dont think an original cover will do me any help. I would say the one I have is original but it has been butchered to work in its current state.
The drivers side seat has been raised by 40mm so the seat base will clear the air intake for the 4be1. That is why I am chasing a rover intake rather than the truck one. It is massive!
There is then another cover which sits behind the wall that divides the cab from the camper, then a third one that covers from the bellhousing down and over the gearbox / transfer. It makes everything very accessible which is niiice!
I am aiming to combine the 2nd and 3rd covers to assist in noise and heat containment. Will let you know how I go!
