Just received the latest BCF catalogue BCF - Catalogue (http://www.bcf.com.au/index.aspx?path=catalogue&ccid=2&cid=246&curpage=1).

Have been looking for a replacement tent for awhile as the family has doubled and they will only get bigger.Been looking at Black wolf and oztrail, would like a Oztent but out of my price range.I dont have a roof rack yet for the oztent.

Need something thats gunna last a few years and get used at least a dozen times a year.

Anyway thought the FS270 was a good size/price and from the research Ive done on here would last for years.

Just wanted to see if anybody else had won of these FS range tents?Do think they are worth the money?

Now the challenge is to beat the crowds, we went to Big W boxing day sale and the crowd at Morryfeild shopping center was huge :o.
Put the missus on the front line while I pushed the kids around in the pram...:D

I have a blackwolf tent, not the same type as fs270 but a dome tent, I bought it 11 years ago and its still in good condition. Very high quality in my opinion if they are made the same of course.

I have a Turbo-Tent (the 300 model).

I think its VERY good quality - happy to discuss. PM for contact details if you want.

Make sure you get the Turbo and not the Turbo-Lite (the latter is made of that rubbishy parachutey material that dome tents are made of, the former is made of canvas. You need to be aware of this when looking at pricing.

The FS is a lighter weight canvas I think than the normal Turbo tent. I have the Turbo 210 and its very good. Check the website Black Wolf Adventure Gear - Home (http://www.blackwolf.com.au)

I have a Turbo 300 - excellent tent and definitely better than the lighter versions. A mate has an Oztent which is also excellent.

I have the Turbo 300 (Canvas) and my brother has the Turbo-Lite 270 (Lighter Rip-Stop Stuff)

Both great tents with pros and cons for both. Mainly weight vs longevity.

Blackwolf (Phoenix is the Distrib) have great backup and any problems with the tent will see you getting it sorted out quick. I was even thinking of the FS270 as the kids tent as $400 is very cheap.

Reading over a few other threads about tent advantages and disadvantages I guess it comes down to preferences and good and bad experiences etc.

I mentioned before that I have a Turbo 300 which is excellent - I really had intended to buy a Serengeti Bella Vista which was being sold here locally a year or so back. South African made, terrific features and built like the proverbial brick article. The Turbos look a lot like these tents - basically an African `chopper' design. However, I had a bonus from work that had to be spent in a hurry and I bought the Turbo instead which is Taiwan made, but uses quite good materials etc.

Suppose the point I meant to make was that the Bella Vista had an excellent 4 panel venting system on the inner tent roof. A Turbo Lite that I saw in a BCF some time back had a similar 2 panel venting system in the roof which I had assumed would also be incorporated in the heavier Turbo canvas tents. I was a bit disappointed to find that my Turbo 300 did not actually have this feature when I finally unpacked it some months later. Anyway, not sure if the model being sold by BCF actually has this ventialtion feature, but it looks to be pretty useful.

Cheers

i whent the othere way
Aussie Disposals (http://www.aussiedisposals.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=92&products_id=288&osCsid=f2b5af5ee297f34a33657736a7b53b97)

Same as you I was thinking of when the kids get bigger etc and that you can get add-on bits for it.

they are easy to put up one person, no ropes really needed etc and I can toss it on the roof by myself easy etc

the only down side is not having the extra roof for the sun but then you don’t spend much time in the tent during the day
