All,

In another thread people have touched on the inadequacy of the standard 2 ton car trailer available at hire places.

Do you have a reliable source of a trailer suitable to tow a 110 defender or a D2? Both these will exceed the 2000 kg limit for over-run brakes.

How do you get around this problem?

Take a chance and use the service station hire trailer?
I have my own with suitable load rating and brakes?
I found a place from which to hire a trailer with suitable load rating and brakes?

If the later a place in Melb would be good to know about.

Thanks

i towed a series wagon, with a 2 ton trailer, and i foolishly put a second set of wheels in the back. going over 80 kmh was downright dangerous and the trip was over two hours long from one side of the city to the other. my advise... ring someone with a tilt truck, they'll load and deliver no stress on you or tow vehicle.

I hire a plant trailer from the hire bloke in Yass. Very well maintained and has it's own electric brake system with battery and controller on the trailer.

Long way for you to come for a hire though.

The trailer was very easy to tow my 130 on. Rig would have been close to 3 tonn at the time.
