Its most definately not compatible with the rear, but is with the front, with a few exceptions, did it have aftermarket replacement axles at all? as in, iis the locker 10 or 24 spline?

Afraid not Scotty.
The Defender will be 24 spline where as the disco will be 10 spline, and the disco rear is a rover axle, whereas the Defender is a Salisbury.
It is the right design for the front, but the splines are wrong.
I think you can buy the parts to swap the 10 spline locker to a 24 spline one, but I dont know the details. (Arb at least)

Personally, if going that route, your better off purchasing heavy duty 10 spline axles for about double the cost of converting to 24spline gears

Thanks guys for your help,
the 10 and 24 spline sounds like an obstacle, next qusetion is could I swap the complete diff and axles from the disco rear with the front of the defender
Much appreciated
thank you

again, no I am afraid.
The rear axles and front ones are different even when both are rover axles. The front ones are 2 piece with a CV joint to allow for the steering.
