I can recommend the air springs from Arnotts Industries in the US. They were very easy to order, and only took a couple of days to arrive here in Brisbane.
Far cheaper than anything I could find locally, although I bought mine when the AUS$ was stronger.

Would not think so, never heard of anyone trying... I would think that the bellows rolls too much for an internal patch to survive.

Tyres stay uniform in shape (mostly) but the suspension bellows are continually rolling inside-out on the trouble section.
