Walked down to Redcliffe with my son, had a swim then watched the fireworks on the jetty with a couple of cans of jim beam. No crowds, no stress, had a great time.

I went to a party/bbq at moore park gardens where we shuffled between the apartment & rooftop when the fireworks were on. Had a spectacular view from Pyrmont to Rosebay. Caught the redeye a little worse for wear to Melbourne to see my Dad who suffered a stroke the night before, and am back home now having a beer before a very needed rest.

Nothing really, most of our friends were away this year, so I played dads taxi for the kids.
(that probably knocked me around as much as going out for the night)

Took the kids to their first fireworks.

Got home around half ten and everybody in bed soon after except me.

Thought about having beer, but didn't, felt old.

kicked the night off with a few beers and pizza, called a cab and it turned up before we were ready:eek:, that surprised us too, headed into the casino and it was five deep at the bars and took around 20 minutes to get a drink, walked outside and there were plenty of taxi's dropping people off, went up to the paddo tavern and suprisingly only a hand full of people there, suited us as they had a band playing and getting drinks was not a problem, stayed there til midnight, walked outside and straight into a taxi:eek:, yep suprised us again as all you hear about is the shortage of taxi's.........continued drinking till the sun came up

Firstly Happy New Year to you all!

I went to my x's for some drinks with the crew :) kicked off at 7 with a BBQ and many beers "OLD" then we walked up to the park to watch the 9pm fireworks then went back continued drinking then we walked up to the park to watch the midnight fireworks :)...

Then went back and continued on dancing, drinking and socialising whilst other weak drinkers passed out or vommited. Once most the crowed was gone me and a mate went for a walk around the blocks to sober up a little. Then when i got back to my car for some reason i thought it would be better to sleep UNDER him rather then on the back seat or in the back with the seats folded :p...my back is still killing me and i have cuts from the rocks :p

A mate and I went to the beach at Mooloolaba to take familys to see the fireworks (both of us in 130 dualcabs). After returning from the 8.30 fireworks to where we left the Landies (to escape the crowds and go home for some serious drinking) I was shocked to find that on my keyring I had the fuel filler key, house key but no door/ignition key. The key from Scott's 130 opened mine but no luck on the ignition. So then I set about bludgeoning the ignition/steering lock into submission after removing the column covers. Got home at 10.30 with a big screwdriver jammed through the lock to defeat the column lock and wires bridging the fuel and lights on.
Next morning with more light and tools removed the lock completely and went to Supercheap to get a through dash ignition switch. As I was connecting the switch the wife says "looking for this?" Hmm... at least it still fits the doors!
So then the next day(2/1/09) went to leave Buderim to return to Ipswich, reversing out their driveway, steering goes to full lock power steer fluid squirts out at an alarming rate. the steel pressure line rubbed through on the saddles on the chassis. Lucky British Offroad had one off a Disco which with a bit of bending did fit.
When I got home I went to my local Repco to try and order some new ones and the mate behind the counter says " nah, sorry no listings for Rover hoses... guess you'll just have to buy a Nissan!" So I replied "but that'd be like giving up".

I did a bit of driving, roughly 1500ks (with about 400 off road). I took the Defender down to Esperance on Boxing Day along with RoverWill in his disco. Spent the next 6 days driving from Dunn Rock to Bremner Bay spending as much time off the butimen as possible.

Had to put up with this view:
