Anyone have any idea what type of paint Rover used in the late nineties and what is compatible/incompatible ?
Thanks to the perennially leaking clutch m/c there are a few little rust spots/blemishes down the inside of the firewall/bulkhead, so I want to treat it before it develops any further. (finally installed the PBR one yesterday, only had it on the shelf for twelve months or so  )
Will good old Kill Rust work OK and not react ?

Hi Rick
The paint they use is a two pack paint and there is no cross reference to normal paint colour.

Hi Rick, this website has quite a bit of info on LR paints:

It all depends on what you want and what the original colour is.
most automotive paints from that era were 2 packs as they give good wear properties and high gloss levels
under the bonnet a near enough is good enough approach may be all your after and Killrust will do the trick if the brake fluid is removed prior to application.
Most knowlegable paint mobs can put a sample into a colour machine and tint up a pretty good match.
I'll check with the eye match tinters in the factory to see what our options are.
in the mean time a colour code from under the bonnet would be helpful
:D

And I thought I was bad with the leaking MC.
I'm sure I'm not up to twelve months yet.
