Chassis number is I think from memory on the front spring front bush support which is apart of the chassis.
I cannot remmember which side.
The number is most likely covered in paint.
The drivers manual which you should have down loaded by now has all the locations of the serial numbers.
Aussie 101 also have the chassis number on a plate riveted to the lefthand side of the fan tunnel between the passengers seat and feet along with other information.
The interesting thing is aussie 101s are rated for a 1.5 tonne payload and I do not know if this applies to other 101s.

The number is on the front outer spring hangers.

My books indicate that Aussie 101 GSs have a higher payload than UK 101 GSs - 1.5t vs 1t and as a result a higher GVW.

However, I do not believe there is actually any difference in the vehicles.

Thanks guys, the military user manual only states the one on the engine cover. will have to scrape the tar coating off and have a look on the hangers.
