just after a idea of what people think of the 4 speed auto in the 80's model range rover what ever advice or knowledge you can give would be great

The ZF is a great box. I had one on my 4.6 powered '86 RR.

its an auto.....
oh alright...
assuming that its the ZF as originally fitted heavy industry, germans and the military use them for a reason...
keep it oiled properly, fix the leaks when the turn up and dont toast it, in theory it should out last you.

thanks guys well they sound good enough for me not to worry bought it 2 much, unlike a EA falcon with a 4 speed auto

Ahhh! The infamous BW box. Different kettle of fish altogether. :D

good box, that take a caning. Just keep it as cool as you can, the only thing that really seems to kills them is overheating. Oh, and the failed double cardon shaft off a disco 2.................................
