VDO Tacho / Boost Gauge- Td5

A TD5 specific tacho is available from vdo / dayton, just look up your state distributor and give them a call, but make sure it is the TD5 specific version or it will read out. They were actualy available with TD5 on the dial. The boost gauge will be just a generic VDO unit.
If you moun a Nanocom you will have your RPM displayed.

I patched my boost gauge into the wastegate line, seemed like the most logical spot. I'm not sure if you can buy an electrical one to suit a td5, but i'm not a guru, and mechanical one was super easy to fit.

I also got my td5 tacho from Rover Part Plus. Saun was preparred to match and beat any legit price. Repco here in Alice couldn't get the td5 one for me, they did get me the vdo egt and volt meter though, prices wern't real flash from what i remember though:eek:

You will find boost gauges need to be connected to the engine via a small plastic tube like in the pic (Not a Td5, just to show tube).
I would connect it close to the intake manifold of the engine as this will give you the actual boost acheived after the intercooler has done it's job.
If you fit an EGR bypass kit, the new inlet pipe would be an ideal place to put a fitting for the tube.
I'm sure plenty of Td5 owners have boost gauges, where have you all connected the tube to the intake of the engine ????

Sorry Cam, been a way for a few days, as said wasgate line is a good spot. Most boost gauge kits will come with the tubing required. Depending on the brand you may need to buy T piece, but that is about it. They are fairly easy to fit. The hardest part is getting the tubing inside the cab through the fire wall.

So just drill and tape the new inlet pipe and pop it on there ? (I have a EGR bypass kit on) and connect it on there ? Cool!

Now I just need to track down a decent VDO reseller in Syd.

Hi new to this site but have had land rovers for several years. currently have a defender with boost guage fitted into waste gate control. is a higher reading that at manifold but lets you know what is going on. only hardware required was a t piece for $1.
