I am in the process of setting up an aux. battery in the rear of my defender, my intention is for it to be removable.

I thought I would run the earth from the main to the aux battery , with the charging feed going the same way via the battery isolator. feed and earth arrive at an anderson plug on the side of the battery box.

can anyone tell me if it is ok to run the earth this way ? will power feed back down the earth from aux to main?

and can the accessory plugs attached to the batt box be earthed to the negative post of the aux batt.?

thanks in advance if you can help.

Yep not a problem with that set up but don’t forget to put circuit breakers at both ends of the positive cable, as close as practical to each battery's positive terminal and the get the best set up for you dual batteries, use at least 10mm2 cable, positive and negative.

thanks for that drivesafe, I though it might be you that answered!

I think I have those things covered.

I have wired in a blade fuse box inside the battery box lid, I guess to get the most out of the accessory sockets that I bought from you a couple of weeks ago(I think you said they were rated at 16amps?) I should use a 15amp fuse. I will run the fridge through one and use the other for the compressor.
