Can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain some silicon turbo hoses for a TD5 Defender. Noticed mine are getting a bit soft.

I ordered a set directly from B-A-S (Pete), just after I received the EGR Removal kit. Very good quality hoses.

Not sure if they are the same ones that Tombie supplies....

I have ordered some Samco silicon hoses from TD5 Alive, $222.00 delivered.

I'm assuming that Samco are good quality hoses, I haven't heard anything bad about them on the UK forums that have mentioned them.

Geez, $222 for 2 hoses?:o
I thought they were around $100, will investigate a bit and see if Tombie or B-A-S replies. Would rather deal with someone in Australia who is a AULRO supporter.
Thanks for the replies.

Pat , you'll be able to replace both straight and Elbow Silicon hoses on your 300tdi D-fenda for less than $50.00 .:)

There are 3 hoses:p and besides the standard hoses aren't much cheaper:mad:

Oh and these were the cheapest i found, i even tried those places that specialise here in Aust (rice burner places) most of the places here are $50 to $200 dearer than TD5 Alive:eek:

$220 is NOT expensive for silicone hoses if they are made well!!!

When I sold my'n here they were $185 that was trade price no money was made anywhere from that as the guy did me a cost deal to get his name out in oz...also different colours come at different prices even though some sell them at the same price...you may find they have an avarage price to cover the cost of the other colours they may offer....

from memory blue was the norm and othe colour including Black was more expensive.
i got a black set for a member on here and they looks bloody awesome wish I had gotten black for my'n instead of red!

and yes you can get the 300tdi silicone ones for something like 50/75 dollars the straight and the elbow but you cant get the kinked one for the top this is the one that costs the dollars.....

its hoses out of the norm that cost money....and it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case as the Defender td5 ones I got had a hose which was a half moon shape like a rainbow....I would of thought that this was not a normal off the shelf type of hose there for it comands more price as when making the hoses in a set they have to make a few for it to be cost effective.

I've had the stock Top I/C Hose on last 7 years , the same one is still going strong and never had to replace it;)
I tried getting Turboxs to make up the top I/C hose but they need a minimum order of 100 at the least and wanted payment upfront ,it's not worth it.

$200 plus for a couple of hoses lets get serious, some people are on budgets and don't like getting gouged.

Hi John;

like I said I sold TD5 hoses at cost for 185 (that included the frieght which was very small per unit).....if you can't afford to pay for silicone hoses at cost because of budget then you shouldn't really be looking at them and go for normal rubber ones IMHO.

How often do the second and third hoses need go be replaced? ie the straight and top hoses on a 300Tdi
Isn't the first elbow subjected to higher temperatures?

I just replaced the elbow on mine. It was quite soft but intact. The other two seemed in v good condition.

The elbow doesn't cost much because it's just a standard 90 degree 51mm ID.

my top hose was quite soft when I changed my'n and was starting to show signs of degrading becasue i changed that I changed them all......

but that means nothing as it could well of been the original....and obvioulsy I dont know what the car had really done in its life or been subjected too.

I sourced mine from the supplier to BAS....

Please go to BAS for you hose requirements as at the moment I do not have spare capital to get the stock in (building workshop etc at the moment)

B-A-S is supplier to TD5 Alive, All his gear comes from Pete @ B-A-S...

TD5 hoses are far more expensive, in Australia i found the cheapest silicon hoses for a TD5 was $265, and that price was only if you bought the larger intercooler as a set.

This was why I went to TD5 Alive, i know Pete supplies the hoses to them and I needed them now.

Basic straight, 45*, 90* elbows, etc are reasonably priced anywhere.

Samco and SFS have the reputation of being about the best in the game at the production level, they supply motorsport teams worldwide. When looking at hose try and get the one with the most plies, cheap hoses have very few plies and so their pressure rating is lower.
IIRC Samco and SFS have a minimum of four plies in the wall and as they are UK based probably supply the bulk of the UK Land Rover specialists.

SFS Performance - Silicone Hoses (http://www.sfsperformance.co.uk/)

SamcoSport - The World Leader in Performance Silicone Hose (http://www.samcosport.com/row/index.asp)

Samco (http://www.samcosport.com/row/car_kits.asp'make=Landrover) (looks like TD5 Alive has these exclusively, so follow Tombies recommendation of B-A-S)

I went to Karcraft today, they didn't stock the silicone hoses but had the revised year 2003 & apparently strengthened hoses for under $30 each. Not sure what I'll get now, probably the cheaper ones!
