Just received our 2006 D3 SE today having purhased late last year at auction. The remote key fobs that came with the vehicle do not work, however the key locking and ignition works fine. Had a quick look at the owners manual and noted that the remote battery is charged via the ignition. So had a half hour drive to see if this fixed the problem however it didn't. As I said, new to the vehicle as of today so thought I'd see if this is something simple that I can't figure out. Sticker on drivers side says "ICE fitted with computer anti theft system". Any help appreciated prior to going to Land Rover. Cheers

Could be the receiver unit for the remotes in the car. They both start the car so are still coded to it. Being 2006 it should still be in warranty?

Thanks, and yes still under warranty. Looks like off to LandRover I go already. Having had a 92 Rangie for the past 12 years I have tended to avoid them, however with the new experience of warranty I guess I better!

ICE = In Car Entertainment = CD + Radio + Speakers

As for the remote, if its anything like the D2 then a quick check on the diagnostic system at the dealers will tell if pressing the remote is being picked up by the vehicle's BCU.

Hi Simondebbie,
The 2 keys will need to be programmed to the vehicle. Probably just lost comms to the ECU. Car may have been sitting for a while.
ICE stands for "In Car Entertainment". All the LR's should have this sticker on them from 98my onwards. Some get removed from having tint fitted.
Cheers;)

I have head of these 'dropping out' sometimes so they might need reprogramming to the car via IDS.

My hope was that it has been sitting for a while and hence the problem, we bought last year and had it shipped down over XMAS. Figured the ICE thing would be obvious, but thought I could get away with some dumb questions considering it's been a long time since I had a latish model LR and it's early days on the forum! Cheers for the advice.

Hi Scott, Cheers mate, hope things are well.:pYes, still plenty of work here to keep us busy (as you would expect with a LR workshop :(). Hope you're the same.

Welcome to D3 & the forum.

I think that Sniegy & Scouse have "nailed it". ;)

If you book ahead at your dealers, they may be able "fix" it while you wait.

All the Best,
Peter

The "other function" button on my remote reprogammed itself recently. I have it set to turn the headlights on and off, but it decided it was much better to not just unlock but half unlatch the rear upper tail gate. Even better, there is no mention of this option in the manual. Work that one out  A definite "undocumented feature". I've reset it to operate the lights.

Hi there,

I've tried to program the key fob to lift/lower the D3, couldn't get it to work, anyone tried it?, succeeded?. (SE V6 '07)

From memory (at home on holidays) all doors closed, hazards ON, push the LandRover button on the key & hold then push the EAS switch up & hold until a chime is heard.
Then to operate the hazard switch must be ON & all doors closed, push & hold the LR button & lock is up? & unlock is down? (not exactly sure!!)
It should be in your manual, BUT u have an 06my, & it may not be in that.
Maybe someone could access GTR & post the how to from the owners manual.
Cheers

thanks, it's Jan '07 built and read it in the manual so I thought I'd try it. I guess I have to read the manual again :-). Does the engine need to be running at when programming/operating?

thanks

I have a 2006 HSE and both my key fobs failed requiring replacement under warranty. It's as though the battery stops charging up and they won't lock or unlock the doors. Best just to get LR to replace them as they cost over $400 each if you have to do it outside of warranty.
