looks like he might be using something like the blue tucan gps geotagging gadget you can put on your digital slr it will place your photo's on a map using the gps co-ordinates it stores with the picture

It's a great set of photos,

Nup, sorry ....
Some of them aren't where he thinks/says they are:mad:.
(Collins and Commins in the same location ... NOT)
(Pretty Valley = 5km's south of where it actually is)
(etc, etc)
Don't ask how I know that ;)
(also, there's no lat/long in the pic details = they've just been placed on a map ... some in the vicinity of the actual hut)

Sorry DB if that sounded harsh ... not meant to.
I've been on a Gary Duncan Goosechase to various huts before ... he does great photos and distributes a very good CD about the huts
but is crap for nav. gps, mapping etc.
(as a warning to all others wasting their time and effort)
even photos of the same place in that site are given at two different locations.
(check Wombat P.O. .... one is given as about 1km from the actual location, and two are shown near Corryong/ lucyvale / granya area ... 20+km away)
Sincerely sorry DB not directed at you

I did consider that maybe he does it on purpose ....
but discounted that because why put incorrect info out there when you don't need to put up the info at all????
My huts photos site at Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/sschmez/sets/) also allows Geotagging which I choose not to use.
Any oziexplorer users who wish to use the info or check it
This is what I've done:
From the photos link given above, choose to view the locations in "Google earth"
this sends a .kml file which you can save and then open with "Google earth"
save it and then use GPSBabel (http://www.gpsbabel.org/) to convert to .wpt for oziexplorer.
View in Oziexplorer and compare to your mapping or
"append waypoints to file" to combine them with your existing huts waypoints ... now work through them and edit/correct/delete.
Good Luck
Stevo
