Who on AULRO actually owns a 101?:D
So far I have identified:
Garrycol

So - if you own a 101 please let us know and post a pic - also tell us a bit about it.
I got "Miss Piggy" about a year ago in very poor condition. Why Miss Piggy? Because she is all butch and ruff, tuff and rugged - but sort of cute in a style all of her own.
I have managed to get the engine running reasonably well, the clutch now works and I have completely replaced or reconditioned the braking system. I have put new tyres on it.
The truck is now drivable and I have driven it around the block a few times. The brakes have not bedded in so braking is still a bit wild. I might get a permit and take it for a long drive to try and settle them down and find any other problems.
I have just about completed cutting the rust out of the rear cross member and I have just about decided to get rid of the tin roof it has on it and put a canvas top back on.
Next tasks are sort electrics, get the LPG tank tested, a general tidy up and hopefully rego. Then, get the winch going, put in the overdrive and rear locker that I have.
This is a pic of mine - as you can see - still a work in progress but we are slowly getting there.

Nah you didn't.. Yours is the better vehicle. I went with my mind set on that Tdi but changed my mind once I'd seen it. It sounded ok, but the 101 rad was gone and the defender rad and intercooler were held in with cable ties... It had new Petlas tyres, but I don't think they'd have lasted long being powered by the Cummins!! :D
The Hard top on yours is well built, but if you decide to go canvas in the future, mine is near for you to copy and AJ has new tilts for reasonable coin. :)

No... You Aussies are nicking all the good ones out of our supply ;-)
You're (UK people not you personally) selling them to us because we pay what they're worth.
Oh, by the way, all mine are "Australian Delivered". That is they were never in the UK forces. They were supplied by BAC to the Australian Defence Force as part of a weapons package.
I'll point out I have found some of the UK sellers do not want to sell parts to Australians. It's as if they are national treasures. In the case of historically significant 101's such as "Mabel", I can understand this, but parts?
I have toyed with the idea of importing a 101 or two to strip it for parts as others have but luckily I have not needed to do this.
Personally, I find it a rather parochial attitude. One I'm sure you do not hold.
After all, aren't we one big happy 101 family keen to assist each other in our mutual quest to restore and keep these treasures on the road?

Depends on your definition of cheap, but you're right. They're nt getting any cheaper though.
I bought my first GS for £1500, taxed and MOT'd with a gas system on it, and -as mentioned a few times before- still kinda regret letting it go.
The current project was taken in part payment for a job on someone else's -the bill was adjusted by £300- but it's far from complete and I've spent a bit gathering up bits to rebuild it, but been fortunate enough as I've found a lot of stuff very cheaply.
As you've probably seen there's a GS project advertised on the UK forum at £3k -for quick sale- whilst the average complete project truck tends to be at the £1500 mark.
I'm quite happy to sell 101's and 101 parts to Australia, in general the dealings I've had with you chaps out there have been great, and those of you actually buying UK 101's are genuinely decent chaps who love their Land Rovers and aren't afraid to pay when they need to.

I think most over here would consider that cheap. You would be struggling to get a road worthy (our version of your MOT) and registered unit for under $20,000 over here, and a good project vehicle for $12,000 to $15,000. Top end units with all the goodies from mid $20,000 to low $30,000 depending on fit out.
With all the interest over here for them recently, prices are only heading one direction.:)

Ha ha. What are you getting at Simon???:D No-one bought any 101's recently? Maybe they're too high priced, not on the open market, no interest in them ... or maybe the people that have them can't bear to part with them? I know it's been a very tough decision for the seller of the one I'm picking up.
Yes, the rumours are true and I have paid a deposit on a 101:p. I'm flying to Melbourne to meet a couple of 101 owners (Gav and Mick) that will give my brother and I a lift for a couple of hours further South-East for me to collect my new pride and joy.
I have access to plenty of photo's from the current owner but I wanted to wait until I have my very own photo of "my" 101 with me in it:cool:. At the moment I could really only post a photo of 10% of the 101 as that's all I own at the moment until Friday:D. After that, you can expect a few photos for the next few years:).

Maybe get an admin to lock this thread and start a "MkII" version of "AULRO 101's register":nazilock:. Then just add the names to the list on the first post as each member posts with the compulsory picture of their 101:wasntme:. Alternatively GaryCol could update the first post list on this thread, but it might be tricky getting confirmation of some on the list - ie no-one seems to have heard of Dodge for quite a while (he must have lived near me but I've never seen a 101 around here) so no idea if he still has one:confused:.
Another option would be to start a list off-line like the WA Aulroian group do. This has the benefit of including phone numbers and locations if help is needed more urgently than a post on AULRO can be helpful for, but doesn't include photo's that everyone can look at. Also means that only those that are comfortable with giving out that information get to access the list. I don't know how or where it's managed, other than one member looks after it for all.
Definitely a good idea to have an updated list, with photo's, of current 101 owners in AULRO.

Start a new thread here
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/101-forward-controls-variations/
You might title it something like "puma130tc's 101"
You will soon be added to the list here

Yup, as Mick said, top left, click the new thread and start it with the heading you want. Mick and Gav are usually able to shift/chop/swap any mistakes etc! :)

Sometimes it's like looking in on a fairground from the other side of a plate glass window. All the attractions and none of the action. :D

Dang it. I want to be part of this elite group.
The closest I come to owning a 101 is options;
A) I own an apple laptop and the screen picture is a 101, or;
B) I know a guy who's married to the sister of my mate's wife and he has a 101.
Cheers, Adam.

There are a couple for sale here in Melbourne but, more importantly, if you can chase up what happened to these two.........

I'll be in Darwin in about 6 to 8 weeks for a week. I'll pop around for a beer, then you can say you have a mate with one.:)
I'll bring plenty of pics.
Unfortunately I'll be flying up - I don't think I could manage the fuel bill to get it there and back at the moment.:D
