g'day guys,

just was wondering whats happening with all the VIC trips???

whats that you say there are none?????? Exactly whats happening here in Victoria, its not like we dont have anywhere to go, we have some of the best state forest's here and alot of great 4x4 tracks. i know for a fact that i did one in december last year and it was ok, besides the weather which turned off a few ppl. But since then i have not seen anyone try to put a trip together. i'm hopeing to get one running in a month or so. i'm looking at either bunyip state, warburton, or gembrook. thinking as well to do a night run, but i'll it leave it to you guys to decide and throw some idea's this way as to what ya's want to do. stay tuned!!!!

I went across to Strathbogie state forest recently. All the tracks (which are quite easy usually) were so dry that a 2wd could have done them. There was evidence of dried up ruts but it'd be a long while before there is any rain there.

Unless the trip was for new off road drivers, it's a lot of time/planning/money to go away to drive on dirt roads. Maybe that's why it's quiet this time of year?

well same here when i went to wombat and lederderg state, very dry but there where some very steep climbs which where fun to do. the other thing is ok go out and do some 4x4ing but it also interesting to meet other forum members. lol i think i love 4x4ing too much, i pretty much go out every 2 to 3 weeks, and camp out on weekends every month or so.

Depending on when you guys do this trip, I may be interested in tagging along. I'll have the Disco lifted by then, but doubt the budget will also allow for mud terrains, which I've heard are almost a necessity in the Otways during the winter months. I don't think the Silverstone all terrains I'm running will get me far in there!

In light of all the damage done by the fires, i'm pretty sure that most of the areas for 4wding around melbourne are pretty well closed. Those that are still open probably see more 4wd's than usual now that there is less areas to play.

A good time to quietly work on the Landie I suppose! I do hear some wispers of a trip out to Robe in SA across a long weekend.

Although maybe that doesn't classify as a VIC trip :p

Otways are about the only place left in Vic to 4wd that isn't on fire, or closed for months to come. And I agree, it should be a one-night trip minimum.
