Does anyone have troopy seats in the back of their 101? I am looking for pics - I assume they are the same as those are in the back of series 3s. Also - if registered is you 101 cleared to carry more that 2 people on the basis of these seats.

My 101 is coming up for rego after nearly 10 years and it would be easier to get passed as "original equipment" if they were fitted at inspection time rather than having to go for engineering later.

Thanks

Garry

I have a set of series three seats which I though would fit into the 101.
From all the pictures I have and trying to fit them ....series three seats are different.
Series three seats can be fitted. but folding them up so they dont make you lose cargo space is a different thing.
Unless you are going to carry passengers with canopy completely off the passengers will not be able to see out and enjoy the ride very much.
Driving with the back part of the canopy rolled up sucks in dust and exhaust flumes.
For use around the farm at low speed or ANZAC day I roll up the sides and just use the bottom cushion of the series three seats which have brass eyelets at the two rear most corners.
I tie a short small rope from the eyes to the two small holddown loops on top of the rear mud guards which roughly line up and these stop the cushions from moving.
The normal side board acts as a back rest and keep people from falling out.
I find this works well enough.
The cushion bases can be left in place and camping gear loaded on top of them and tied down using the cushions to stop the paint from scratching away.
I do have new seats supplied with my 101 that were fitting to the rear for legal road use , one to a side facing forward at the front of the rear guards.
these were suppied from england.
My self and the previous owner didnt fit them as the useage verses room loss verses passengers being able to see out even with the canopy rolled up just doesnt add up.

Thanks Ron - I am not looking to carry extras on a regular basis but if I can get the rego papers to show more than 2 passengers I have options to legally do so if needed.

Cheers

Garry here are some pics
these ones is just a series landy cushion tied to the cargo loops.
It looks not very good ,but with the side up acting as a back rest it works well enough to move people around the farm and I can still load stuff on top of it when not carrying people.

These are with a series seat in place.

These are with me holding the seat like if it is folded.

The reason I did not fit the seats is I find when camping I place all the food and things I need handy around the sides of the vehicle and use the drop down sides.(easy to reach)
My bed is usually made up down the centre of the cargo area.

This is interesting as it is a series seat and it is not bolted to the mud guard, but to the side panel, which means it can be removed easy and have less over hang when in use on top of the mud guard.
It would also take up less space when folded too.

A combination of both would be perfect - the seat belts will keep the rego people happy.

Thanks

Does anyone know if the cushions and seatbelt hardware for the standard 101 rear seats are common with any other land rovers? Failing that any ideas on where to buy generic seatbelts and cushions?

I have the frames in the below two pics that I'm keen to to fix up and install ready for rego but not really of any use without cushions or seatbelts. If anyone knows where to buy seat belt hardware I might even buy new belts for the front seats too.

there was a mortar kit which included a double seat on one side and a single on other. Bought one for mine with the lap seat belts.

I don't think my small children will take so kindly to that after a short trip, nor the wife seeing them thrown about the back:D
