On a recent off road trip, I managed to break the spring clips that hold in the rear bumper lights in a 2003 D2. The light housing themselves are fine, its just the spring clip that holds each light in that's stuffed. Problem is, I can't seem to be able to buy replacement springs. You have to buy the whole light unit which is about $100 each.

Has anyone got a cheaper solution, either a clip source or other alternative?

Cheers

I would try epoxy or silastic.

Second hand from wreckers - about $20. Thats what I paid. Good as new.

You'll do it again sometime down the track so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The lens has a lip that catches the back of the bumper at one end and the clip at the other. If you refit the lens, the lip will catch the back of the bumper and then the recess that the light sits in will stop it from coming loose - so you jst need to make sure it wont come directly outwards. What I do is run zip ties through the old clip and make a loop out of the first zip tie. Then run another from one of the bar mounts which you will need to get under to see and use another ziptie from the mount to the first ziptie which is on the lens.

Its dirt cheap and easy to fix next time you smash the lights out of the bar.

New rear metal bar:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
You progress from popping lights to tearing the bumper off;);););)

:)Common problem,i siliconed mine in.......have never had a problem again:)

Just a small bit around the edge,push them in & leave it to dry.

Also had to do this to a couple of the rear parking sensors,as they get ripped out as well.

Thanks to all. I might do both the zip tie and the silastic routes for extra security.

BTW, LandyAndy, had a mate at Stockton Beach who ripped off his bumper bar trying to go up one of the steep dunes. We couldn't stop laughing but he wasn't amused.
