It's been that in the western parts of Sydney recently, even here in Five Dock it was 41 on Saturday, though I realise the North Shore is usually a good few degrees cooler.

I was meant to head off for Robe today but we decided home with A/C was a bit more pleasant than a tent! Will give it a couple more days I think...

Hi there
We reside in the Mid North of SA - and its been bl--dy hot (suspect its usually alot hotter than Adelaide.
I have only just got home this am from work at Roxby Downs - we worked night shifts last night and it didnt drop under 38 all night, so i would hate to see what the temp is up there today.
We are fortunate as its a dry heat - no humidity as of yet but with the usual trends were waiting for the thunderstorms next week-ish.
Well as they say - two common things with Australia - bloody hot in the summer and those bl--dy flies.

Weatherzone shows a relative humidity of only 8%, and a feels like temp of 41.4 degrees.
That is still very hot, But I think that when Brisbane gets hot in mid 30's with a humidity in the 80's, our feel like temp gets around 40 frequently.
Personally I prefer a drier heat to the humidity.

Adelaide 45.7 half an hour ago. I've got the Engel running in the Disco under the carport on setting 1.5 (which normally gets it down to 2-3 degs) and it's struggling to get much below 6 degs.

Humidity is a bummer 85% plus so if we have the temperature of down south we history :(

It is 49 degrees in my garage with the doors open. The temp guage in the car did not go below 48 all the way home with all the windows open. The air con needs a leak fixed and I have not had time to do it. Still, I dont mind this heat. It is a dry heat and quite bearable.

Was out at meetings today and got back into the Rangie. Temp gauge told me it was 46 degrees outside and I thought it was inaccurate. Just saw on the news that it has got to 45.6, so it IS accurate after all!
Wish I had aircon in the house on days like these.....

Here at Avoca Beach it is 26.3 by my cheapo temp gauge on the wall of my study.
Have just been down for a swim now that the terrorists have gone and there are only about 40 people on the beach. I caught a few good waves and didn't have to avoid dozens of people.
Life is good.
The hottest I have been in Australia was at a relative's wedding in Adelaide in about 1973. It was 48 or 9 and no aircon then, in a suit at the church near Mercedes. The orange juice was sucked out of the jug as the waiter walked towards the guests.
And I saw 48.5 on the dash thermometer of a BMW 7 driving along Springvale Road Melbournne the day before Ash Wednesday.
BUT you are all softies compared with Saudi. In Riyadh it was between 50 and 55 every day just about in summer. Walking to the supermarket to get lunch was exciting. I drove across the TAP road on the Iraq border one day in about 55 or so. Stopped for lunch and the butter melted before we could put it on the bread. It was about 35 in the car with the aircon on full, the oil temp was pegged and the water temp was in the red all day from 10AM. We used to wear "dishdashers" with no undies to try and stay cool.

New years day 2006 was the second highest (IIRC) ever recorded at Obs Hill so you must have been close at 44.2 recorded (if you were in Sydney then)

I dont think we have had a day over 35 degrees in the last 5 yrs or so,many people have forgotten how hot it used to get here, particularly around Christmas.

At 5.00am this morning it was still 36c outside my building...
I've got to try and sleep today and our A/C has given up the ghost in the house under the strain
Lucky we have a 1946 Sandstone home with 2 foot thick walls or I'd be stuffed (or sleeping in the storeroom at work)

No that's how the local council spells it so it must be right ;)
