Nothing wrong with Vista...

Only someone who hasn't used XP or Windows 7 would say that. ;)

It's the worst Microsoft OS since Windows ME, and is a classic example of what gets released when Sales & Marketing win out over Engineering.

Talk about missing the sarcasm.

What I said was:
I GOT SO ANNOYED WITH VISTA I BOUGHT A MAC

I haven't used Windows 7 but I have used every other version starting at 1.0. Vista definitely isn't as bad as ME, that would be the worst IMO.

Windows 7 is what Vista would have been had it not been rushed out. I've only been runnning it a short while, but so far I like it.

Nope, sarcasm very much understood, hence the smiley.

Yep, I agree. Win Me was the worst...hence why I said "since Windows Me"

what is vista SP2 or windows 7 ?

I think 7 looks very interesting also heard it takes up a lot less memory usage on the computer to run that vista

Vista SP2 is the second Service Pack for Windows Vista
Windows 7 is the next incarnation of Windows that will follow on from Vista.

I'd be very surprised if W7 is less memory intensive than Vista though I would hope they have tightened up some of it so that this is the case.

I've been using Vista home premium 64bit, for about 4 weeks now. Prior to that I was using XP, and so far have had no issues whatsoever with Vista, other than a minor lack of 64 bit applications.

Lucky You!!!
I couldn't get my IE7 to print to my HP for quite a while and Microsoft Tech worked with me for a week.
Magically it fixed itself a few weeks later, as I bet that there was an update.
Aside from that it works OK now, but the darned pop up "permissions" annoy me a lot.
Also the computer inexplcably fails to boot windows every now and then, which I also believe to be Vista related . I have to manually turn it off then reboot a couple of times and it is OK.

SNIP I'd be very surprised if W7 is less memory intensive than Vista though I would hope they have tightened up some of it so that this is the case.

I have Windows 7, Vista, (and XP), on my laptop. According to system monitors Windows 7 is using up to 25% less memory resorces than Vista, (which is not hard considering how much of a memory hog Vista is). W7 boots faster, (not by much though), than Vista and XP.
W7 looks very close to Vista, but without the annoying UAC bugging you all the time. However I personally don't think much of the task bar.
The only problem I have come accross with W7 is that it includes IE8 Beta which is buggy on some websites.

The best fix for that is "Tweak UAC" which is the easiest way to supress it's warnings without disabling it completely.

Lets hope they give you a functional, stable, and secure operating system. I wouldn't hold out high hopes though for as far as I'm aware MS are yet to do this...

Been running the laptop with Vista since the end of October. I've rebooted for updates, that's it, no crashes.

Firefox has crashed a bunch of times due to some Java thing that I haven't bothered to chase down.

All in all, pretty good. Lots less crashes than I had with XP.

Of course the big bonus is the wireless radar that I think is a Toshiba thing. Little radar screen comes up on the desktop showing all the local wireless AP's. Very WWII.
