Can anyone recommend a good deep-cycle battery for a D3?
Must fit the auxiliary bay, which is sized approx.
250-270L x 180W x 195H (length is compromised by internal bracing in the battery bay at front, bottom).
So far I have found these batteries;
254 L x 173W x 198H OPTIMA yellow. Rating of 55 AH....
247L x 175W x 175H VARTA (Comet CP855MF). Rated 60 AH. Terminals are recessed European style.
A larger capacity battery is preferred, but most are too high, especially with protruding terminals.
Any recommendations, good or bad!!??
Thanks

Using the Traxide battery system (only one approved by LR - Warranty!) the smaller 55ah battery effectively becomes a lot larger capacity...
$$ for $$ I'd recommend the Exide Orbital Blue Top... Same performance as the Optima and are able to be purchased for far less (I paid $190 each 2 years ago)

Remco RM12-80 (80 Ah AGM) reportedly fits. I have one in my D2 in anticipation of moving it to a D3.

Thanks for the suggestions to date.
The Traxide system is indeed what I have; for the boost from the crank battery, and tested by LR. Warrantied? - good news!
The Exide Orbital Blue looks interesting - similar technology to Optima?
The height may make the cut. Rated at 750 CCA, RC of 100 (~66** AH similar to the VARTA at 60 AH)
I looked at REMCO, hadn't seen this one. 80 AH is more like it!!!
HOWEVER the height is 208mm vs 195 my measurement. It's not certain it will fit???
I AM STILL INTERESTED IN FURTHER SUGGESTIONS
** using Amp/Hours = (Reserve Capacity / 2) plus 16 ==> (100/2)+16 = 66 AH (Batteries (http://www.chem.hawaii.edu/uham/bat.html))

It has the same dimensions as another brand (Haze Gel 80AH IIRC) that I know has been fitted, but I suspect the ribbings in the tray have been removed and maybe the posts were cut down or off too.
Mine is 208mm to the top of the case but takes bolts, so need 215-220mm total clearance. At least you don't have to allow for normal terminal posts.
