Gday

Went to my boss's partners place for dinner the other day, they live on a bush block. We were talking about Landies and she told me the boss had a few Series 1's down the paddock.

Went to have a look.

VIN no. on the first one: 57661838

Which according to these sites (Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands (http://www.clifton.nl/index.html'main.html) Classic Land Rovers (http://www.classiclandrovers.no/?page=documents/vinlookup&PHPSESSID=cf5852a5d18f6e2ba8cc5814ca0b215b)) is a 1955 86 inch petrol. The poor thing had been butchered. (Rear body chopped off and converted to flat tray :( also missing an engine)

The other one is a real gem though

VIN no. RO6112354

Its an 80 inch according to the Clifton website but won't tell me the year, and the other website doesnt recognise the number

Also still has original engine :)

Just lying around he has a roof and rear tub, and possibly a chassis not sure for what model though

My boss seems to think its a 1949. I was hoping someone could help

Ill take some pictures next time Im out there, was pitch black when I saw them

He wont sell me the 80 inch :(, but said I could lend a hand restoring it. Looking forward to it :)

Thanks for looking, if anyone can help with indentifying the 80 inch it would be greatly appreciated

That's a Late 1950 model. Should be head lights sticking through the grille type with Shovel Back seats. But still should have narrow front springs.

Seats should be like this one:

Thanks for the reply mate

Ill have to have a closer look, but pretty sure it had the headlights on either side of the grill, not like the one in the forum banner up there ^

Yeah thats the one, sorry your photo just loaded after I posted the reply

Pretty sure it had bar treads as well, but again need a closer look in the day time

Hi Jock,

If you get a chance get the engine number as well as we can tell a few things from that.

Lots of good pics. By the body number, the SWB (80") is a 1950 model.

The LWB looks like a 107" so 1953 to 1955. Those headlights in the front guard are not original, it only would have had the ones in the grille.
