See this bloke's home security footage of a neighbour coming out of his house across the road and keying his Discovery 3.
The UK police won't even investigate.

And they say not to just sort things out yourself.

What's to investigate? Pretty obvious to me. Sometimes Karma needs a hand ;)

He doesn't look like the sort of person who would vandalise a vehicle....he's your "everyday middle-aged neighbour" sort of bloke. Just goes to show doesn't it.
Why on earth would someone do something like that:mad:

that's the problem, the video doesn't show the other side of the story.... maybe...

I just read the Disco3 thread, and it doesn't yet say what the police response is. They have only just visited the victim.
My question is why he doesn't report the whole thing to his insurer as well. Usually when you can supply the details (and in this case, video evidence) of the responsible party for any damage, then it can be a no-fault claim. The insurer then has the option of pursuing the other party which, if they are a particularly nasty insurer, could be a lot worse for the guilty party than the anything the cops might do. Legal expenses from an insurance company could send him broke in short order.

No excuse for keying a car... whatever the other side of the story though.
I once saw a new black D3 in Birmingham UK, where someone, methodically had written , with a key on every panel, stuff like enviromental terrorist and so on.

The mind boggles. A few years ago someone decided to key the entire side of my Falcon - from the front indicators to the rear indicators and as if that wasn't enough, key a big swirl on the bonnet too.
As far as I know it wasn't personal, just some bored kids having 'fun'.

I'm having a very Hard Time Understanding this "Concept":(
My mate who lives in syndey inner sydney suburb of Marrickvile had his Pootrol labelled an " Environmental Disaster " of a Vehilce.
but this should be no reason for anyone to Key his car.

In recent months I've seen a keyed Disco and a Pajero. Both were keyed over every panel. I also saw a P38A that had every panel keyed and the roof and bonnet had been jumped on, and the doors kicked in. I suspect it was a write off.
I also recently saw a near-new car, not 4WD, that had many of its panels keyed.
Bloody mongrels!

Happened to a hire car I had just a few weeks ago. Keyed full length of the bonnet right in front of the driver. I can not imagine what is going on inside these people heads, what satisfaction they receive.
Would also be interested to learn just what they think, should it happen to them.
Hire car company never said a word.

Did the keying occur after you'd hired it?
If so, I'm really surprised the hire company didn't ask you to pay for it.

This kind of thing gets on my tits something chronic! I also live in that same Inner West suburb and I also own and drive a non-too-environmentally friendly Disco but if some tree hugger vandalised my car because 'they' thought I shouldn't be driving it I would be livid. It is my recreational vehicle - not an everyday runner. I cycle 20km a day to work but I bet that wouldn't be taken in to consideration (as it were) with some people.
I drive my "big" car less than 7000km a year (including once a month "big" shopping trips, off road expeditions and short trips to the mechanics the following week) but I will always be seen as committing a much greater offence than someone driving something smaller on a daily commute less than I cycle each day plus whatever other journeys they do unnecessarily.

I was expecting something to be said but the guy who checked it in at the airport said nothing. Didn't check the fuel, didn't check nothing. Just signed it off.
