Gooday,

I am thinking about buying a L322 Range Rover probably toward the end of the year.
I currently have a reasonably modified TD5 D2 & have been told by a very respected authority on these matters that the RR is even better of road.
I am aiming at a 2006MY TD6.
I would love a TDV8 but I don't think one will fit in to my budget.
Could those of you out there tell the largest tyres that will fit on - I was thinking maybe the Mickey Thompson in 275 x 65 x 18.
I believe you can get snorkels for them?
I believe you can fit winch cradles to them?
What problems have people encountered with them.
Are they reliable etc etc?
What is a fair price for a low km version?

Thanks for advice

Regards

Chuck

I'm not an owner, but i would like to own one oneday , so i have been keeping my ear to the ground.

Tyres, well Landrover and godyear had a 19 inch goodyear wrangler made for the G4 challenge cars, and it has since been put in production. This tyre was built to suit the L322, so it should be at the top of your list.

Winch cradles, yes its a LR part, again for the G4 vehicles

snorkels, Not as far as i am aware, due to the air vents in the sides infront of the doors being the air intakes (you would need 2 snorkels).

problems, (apart from the recall front shaft) are few and far between. Only that the blackness comes off some off some trim parts, and makes it look untidy.

A fair price? its a 2nd hand rangie, if its 3 years old and more than half the origional price, its too much........:wasntme:

A mob in the US does rock sliders for them though.

Mine's a bit older than what you are looking at, an 03. Got 125,000Kms on it. To date, it hasn't cost a bean to keen going. However, the 5 year wraranty just ran out late last year!!

Things to watch for are that the front diff has had the factory mod done. A 2006 might be exempt from this, but mine certainly had a new front diff about 6 months ago under a recall programme. There was nothing wrong with the original one, but they still swapped it. Mine was slow to go from road height to offroad height (too about 2 minutes instead of 10 seconds) so they replaced the suspension air compressor.

I've got the 19" MTRs which are G4 factory fit. Excellent tyre but make the car noisier by a good percentage.

TD6 is a brilliant engine. Fabulous economy (11-12L/100 around town, 9-10L/100 on a trip even fully loaded). Heaps of power. The only time I've wished for more power is in deep sand. Traction control and ground clearance make it pretty unstoppable.

If it is still under factory warranty you are laughing. There were never any hassles - if something needed doing Land Rover just did it without quibbling.

As for pricing - make a stupid offer and see what happens. I made a stupid offer (and I mean a really stupid offer) on a BMW M3 at the main Adelaide dealer two weeks ago and nearly fell over when they agreed. They're desparate to sell, so if you've got the cash, think about doing something now.

I've got a 2002 l322 and this is my second one. I didn't hesitate to buy this car with the Td6 again.
Apart from lack of aftermarket stuff is the best buy.
This is my 7th Land Rover as owner and 5th Range Rover.

If your coming from a TD5 You'll love the ease of servicing, no Cetrifugal filter hidden, no oil bathed loom, injectors that are cheap and rebuildable, oil filter that sits there staring up at you within easy reach.

Thread was from 2009. Chuck has a D4 now so doubtful he's still looking for an 06 L322.
