Decided to get rid of my trail bike (which was a KTM) and bought this. These are of my first day out. Needless to say I had alot of fun. Will miss the bike after riding since I was 5, but I'm sure this will take my mind off of it.

Very nice! You'll know how to stay poor now. :D

I used to race ReSa with PCR and Van Shaik motors.

Clubman? Which chassis?

I thought there might be a few current/ex karters on here.

It's a clubman. Chassis is an Arrow AX8 30-32.

Looks like fun Matt. Think I'd rather that than a trail bike any day. My days of riding bicycles are well past though. :D

Trail bike would have been a better spare to carry off road. Yes it would fit in the LR as a spare if you break down, but will not get you very far if you break down off road, as those wheels will not suit the ruts.

I was just thinking the same thing, it would never do the tracks the KTM would, are you planning to give it a lift:confused::p

I raced Karts for several years. It's certainly heaps of fun and sharpens up your driving skills. As with most motor sports you start off small, then you just want to go faster and faster. I ended up racing Twin Engined Karts (200 Super).......Clubman engines for reliability, but I had high compression heads for the open classes. Now they were fast........better power to weight ratio than F1's at the time.

Speaking of heaps of motors, I recall watching this person test a 4 motor kart at Eastern Ck. I'm pretty sure it was a pair of reeds and a pair of rotory valves. It screamed on the straights..... that was about it. I'm not sure if it was unbalanced from the weight distribution or just too heavy. Probably both. It would have been about 130hp in about 170kg.

We carried bikes on a couple of trips. Not as spares though. We had the racks in the case of the bikes breaking down, or one of the guys breaking his neck or something.

Yeah, a guy I raced with had a 130 on methanol. He always spoke about one day fitting a pair of them to a twin chassis, but he never got around to doing it........I would've liked to see that.

That would have honked! I always raced 100cc piston port motors, but PCR brought in a 125cc water cooled reed valve for testing, something thats probably not very exciting these days but was very novel at the time. This thing abolutely flew. It had a slide tillotson carby on it which was bigger in the venturi also but because of this it was a dog under about 10,000rpm - but after that went absolutely crazy. It didn't help that we were at a really twisty practice track (Butterfly farm Wilberforce). Anyway, that motor was probably the quickest in Aus at the time, but the 130 on methanol would have probably driven around it! A twin would have been one hell of a lot of fun!
