Maximum legal track width for a 130 HCPU

Gidday All,
Can someone please possibly give a definative informed answer (ie not a guess cause I can already do that:D)as to how wide a 130's front track width can be measuring from the centreline of one wheel to the centreline of the other front wheel. This is for in QLD too by the way as i know there are different requirements between states. I have a RAVE Cd and it lists the track width for a 130 as 1486mm. A mate has a 130 single cab with standard rims and 235/85 wheels and his measures 1520mm. Another mate has peko stars with 235/85 R16 tyres and his measures 1545mm. The reason i am asking is I am cutting out the centres of the D1 rims and reversing them to get a better turning circle. I have done one and if i do another exactly the same, the track width will be 1570mm. I would like to find out whether this will be acceptable before we go ahead as I may already need to bring out the grinder to undo all the good work so far.

"requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track is not increased by more than 25mm beyond the maximum specified by the manufacturer for that vehicle"

I increased the offset? (got more dish) by 10mm per side on my Disco rims...for my Disco.

thankyou for the prompt replies. Def Mec, I had heard that before but with my vehicle one wheel sticks further out then the other. Don't ask me why, but with the one rim that we welded up if you put it on the front passenger side it is under the flare no problems but if you put it on the front drivers side it is out past the flare by about 30mm.:eek: (The flares don't seem to be bent any worse then each other by the way.) Buggered if we can work it out.
Mudmouse that might explain the 25mm difference between standard rims and the Peko stars on my mates trucks but where the hell does the 1486mm measurement off the rave cd fit in then? if this is the true measurement then the maximum wheel track should be 1511mm and we're all outside specs. Stranger and stranger

It's the Federal Govt DOTARS specs that all the state transport departments have to use for vehicle specs.

It also lists the wrong wheel offset. Good one LRA ! That means that all the 130's with HD wheels with the 20.6mm offset running around Oz are not 'standard' and may in fact be illegal :mad:

The 1486mm is for 33mm offset rims, but PAG have listed this as the 130 rim !! Dickheads.

Standard track width should be 1511mm.

Check the wheel mounting face to the chassis centreline.
Also, if the front is sagged excessively the drivers side wheel will be further out than the LHS, just as when excessively lifted the front wheels will move the other way thanks to the arc the Panhard rod moves in, but 30mm seems a bit much......

of vehicle.


You need to also consider the other rules such as covered wheels, no rubbing etc.

This is the doc you need to look at, not DOTARS, but they say the same thing. See Pg12

where would you buy such a thing! it might be a better and easier option to get one of these to straighten things up a bit instead of grinding out and rewelding the rim.

rover craft should be able to get you one. i got mine from toughdog but its to suit the pre TD5 modles and defenders, as the bolts in the OE panhard are bigger than what they make. i cut off the old ends and re welded to the adj pand hard.

I think if they have the older style bent solid bar panhard rod (before 2002) they have the smaller bolts. Anything with the straight tube panhard rod will have the larger bolts.
