Got back last night from Yass. While there I saw a couple of Defenders - just wondering if they are anyone on here.

One was parked, apparently at home, in Church Street in Yass. Saw it several times, always in the same place.

The other, an Extreme I think, was in the staff parking area at Mt Rogers School in Melba, where my grandchildren go to school.

On a different subject, the trip has thoroughly disenchanted me with my first experience of Vista. My son has a new computer, which came with Vista. It decided to do a software update, shut down the IE window I was halfway through typing an email in Webmail, and rebooted. Then on the next day it simply closed the window I was typing a post in this forum, without giving a reason. I suspect there is a switch somewhere to stop it doing silly things like that, but it certainly does not come across as a reliable system compared to my usual Kubuntu.

As an Xubuntu user, I am also suspicious of an OS like Vista that thinks it knows better than I do about what should be happening.

I'm afraid my Luddite attitude also extends to motor vehicles. I like to be the one who decides what gear I want to be in and whether I should reduce power going around a corner.

I know it's a bit irrational and I realise that some of these features are beneficial, but that doesn't stop me viewing them as just something unnecessary that reduces my control over what is going on.
