Received this via email (appologies to those that whine if already posted):

beating the heat

In Victoria the temperature has been above 44 degrees all week and they are forecasting another week of 40+ temperatures. Power is failing, trains have stopped running because tracks are buckling under the heat . It's just scorching.
and it seems that the people are not the only ones suffering.
Check out these photos of a little Koala which just walked onto a back porch looking for a bit of heat relief. The woman filled up a bucket for it and this is what happened!

I also received this in an e-mail yesterday. Said in there that pics were taken at Maude in SA. (I am originally from SA and I don't know where Maude is).

Here in Mildura we are at day 10 of 40+ temps.previous record was 7 days in a row.Expecting 46 on Saturday.
Yesterday about 5pm went outside just in time to see a little singing honeyeater literally fall out of the sky at my feet.Picked him up turned on the tap and boy you should have seen that little tongue lapping up the water. After he had had a drink popped him in a shady tree and he gave me a few little chirps of thanks and flew off.Quite an experience!
Cheers,
Mary

Maude is in Vic. Between Geelong and Ballarat (east of Lethbridge). On the way to Steiglitz.

Thanks for that ..........

That would go a long way towards explaining why I've never heard of the place in SA. :D

I know where Geelong and Ballarat are - but have never heard of Lethbridge or Steiglitz either.

Maude, SA, appears to be a locality between Burra and Morgan.
Not to be confused of course, with Maude in NSW on the Murrumbidgee River between Hay and Balranald.
