Who else went what did you think of the show?

I thought it was amazing! i wish the "STIG" did something a little more extreme. And the motor bike "parking" was a little strange.

But all and all the smell of smoke and high revving high tech engins was incredible!

yeah, i was at the 11AM session.
we had a great time and yes the imitation of a bike rack was a little odd and unexpected, i'd say that might have something to do with those types they call "writers".
to be able to real off such topical and relavent quips about australia, they would have to have been a little spoon fed!
loved the soccer match and the audience interaction, very clever indeed!
and also the burnouts, those guys in ferrari's were great, that little thing they did where the two were in the middle nose to nose, just pivoting on their noses, while the other one was drifting around the outside, bloody awesome fun:D:D:D:D

Yeah...

It was good? :(

Must say I enjoy the TV shows a lot better. This had a lot of advertising and I thought the virtual car thing was a bit stupid. The "bike rack" thing was just wierd and juvenile without being clever, and overdone.

The best bit by far was the car soccer... I am going to have to get myself another beach ball and a paddock basher so we can play it at the farm...

Overall?

I gave it 6.5/10. I wasn't bored, but I was glad I didn't pay for it

mmmm......and how many Hyundai i30 are doing to be destroyed?

One England i30 broke the front right suspension and had to withdraw.

Otherwise not a bad show...more stunt driving that actual car review.

Different.

I went to the 2pm show - sounds the same.
For the $90 odd for the ticket and the 4hour each way drive - probably only just worth it. could have went for longer and less advertising. Some more cars and car talk rather than just driving a lap round would have been better - but it would be a difficult format to take from TV (Cameras, thousands of angles and takes, more room) and make a live show in a small arena. I think it would have been better out in the showground arena - more room. and some mufflers removed would have been nice - the only car with a decent noise was the Commodore racing ute. Soccer was definately a highlight.

I was at the 2pm show as well. The driving was bloody good considering the space that they had. A bit more of the hosts talking cars would have been good. I thougth it was worth the visit to sydney.

Could have been better, but not by much in a live show I would have thought

I just wish I could have heard the engines a little more.

We had silver tickets for 11 o’clock show on Sat… Bitterly disappointed. Over scripted, very repetitive and strongly influenced by TopGear Aus – "there are only 2 makes of cars in aus, Ford and Holden"???? WTF – that’s completely against the UK trio’s formula… It was completely destroyed by the replacement of James May with the Australian Idiot.

If I want to see a knob doing dohnuts in an overpriced commodore I can go down the street any Sat night…

Needed more car talk – why not bring over something new and preview it instead of -Now here is someone doing dohnut in an Alpha, now a dohnut in a Hyundai, now a dohnut in a Ferrari, now a dohnut in a Ford and now a dohnut in a Holden.

And parking the bike in Steve PizzaOven’s – what was that! And the drum kit made of car parts – yeh that first class entertainment.

Only entertaining part was the car soccer… Oh what won’t Hyundai do for publicity… At least the 2 Aus utes were voted uncool for the wall.

Definitely would not have gone if it was advertised as "Clarkson and Hammond come to host Top Gear Australia on a stage".

And to top it off we experienced Sydney's train network at it's best - 4km walk (37 deg heat) after sitting at a station for 20mins to be finally told that it won't move for another 40mins and "no busses have been ordered" However we really did have a fantastic weekend - should have skipped the show:angel:.

There was nothing wrong with the trains, there was a death on one of the lines it was a respect thing. For the family who has lost a loved one i think walking the 4K in the heat as a fairly minor inconvenience. Also i think you will find buses were ordered!

But yes the show could of been better if James was there.

I agree totally with you Harlie.....

I was a lot of effort to get down there from Brissie, only to be let down by a poor quality show. I certainly expected more for my money....not just a bunch of cars doing donuts.!!!!!

After seeing some footage from other Top Gear Live shows around the world, I think we once again got the raw end of the deal here in Oz.

Also agree with you on Sydney Rail network....talk about second rate. Have you guys down there not heard of that amazing new invention called "airconditioning". :)
Stinking hot day, and none of the trains I travelled on had anything apart from very small windows that were open. No airflow, and no cooling air.....and then the price of the train tickets. For the amount they charge, I would have thought the trains would be in better condition.

Interesting that you feel the need to correct me on what rail staff at that point in time had informed me right there and right then…. Were you in my back pack?

I will now Quote the information that was given by the rail staff when I was still at the station - some 20min after the train had arrived. "At this point, these trains will not proceed for at least 40 minutes. No busses have been ordered, you are advised that if possible to make alternative arrangements." THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE TOLD BY RAIL STAFF! If buses were ordered after the fact we were long gone by then.

My annoyance was not the 4k walk (we were surprising well prepared) or why the service was stopped and certainly a fatality warrants the closure of a line. What I was amazed about (especially since we were all from out of town and none of (4) us had any clue where to go – got to love GPS in the mobile) was the complete lack of assistance, directions, and information from the rail staff at the time. This staff advice and lack of organisation is all part of "the rail system" - the ability to get people from A to B in a timely manner (thats what city trains are for) - in our case we had over an hour up our sleave and the rail system did not delivery us to our destination. Hence my comment. On that day at that time - The rail system Failed.

We had a great weekend in Sydney – even that hot walk was OK - bit worried at the prospect of missing the show but still OK. Just a cr*p show

Once again thanks for correcting me - I now know I'm too stupid to get my own story right...

seems that the ones that had travelled down to see the show are the ones most dissapointed.......

I thought it was fantastic and i would go again....
as for the advertising would you have just prefered to have watched that on the tv supplied i know i prefered the way they did it, and you probably going to say dont have it but most shows have advertising and sponsorship somewhere.

I actually took all the steve pizza bits in the show as uktg taking the **** out of tga... as they kept making him do the worst things like having a bike parked up yeh bum and making him get in the trolly etc

Anyway I thouroughtly enjoyed it.......but i never went expecting the earth and i only paid $69 and although high i thought the seats were pretty good

We went along to the evening show on Friday evening, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. In fact I almost lost my voice!

Clarkson was losing his voice so god only knows what he was like on Saturday.

I think we forget that the TV show is edited and many hours of production and the final show you see on television bears no resemblence to what you'd have seen if you were there live.

So given it was a live show I thought they did very well. Why would we want to post overly negative comments including any external factors when we only ever get to see these guy's once a year at best?
