Clyde Apac Trolley Jack

You fellas may be able to help me out here!
Just been out in the driveway (because the shed if full of kids bikes and women's junk) putting new discs & pads on my D1 in mid 40 degree heat (that's another storey by itself).

My tried and proven Clyde Apac Trolley Jack of some 30+ years has given up the will to lift! I bought this animal with a Clisby Compressor way back then when these animals were actually assembled here in Adelaide (now there is a novel concept) before the days of el cheapo imports.

I did get a rebuild done on the Clyde Apac Jack about 12-13 years ago when it lived on the back of my tow truck and got used to lift all manner of things it should not have. (Like semi's etc). I am not sure on the weight rating as the sticker disappeared years ago but I think it would be 5 ton +.

Last time I got it rebuilt I think it cost me $50-$60 or similar. Should I spend what will be no doubt about $100 - $150 (or more ???) to get rebuilt yet again. I would hope parts are still available but I do not have access to the equipment required to rebuild it myself. Are there still locals who repair these animals in Adelaide (I know Clyde Apac are still in business but I think they just provide to manufacturers as there does not seem to be any reference to producing trolley jacks anymore?)
I drove past the small hydraulic repair shop I used last time but they have closed up and moved on !!!

I would love to keep this beast and hand on down to my son! (am I too sentimental?)

I bought a 2.5t Armstrong Trolley Jack about 8 years ago and it cost me $200 trade price then. I'd definitely look at getting a quote on a rebuild. I would think you'll be looking upwards of $350 for anything halfway as decent and brand new.

Manual Hydraulics sells the Armstrongs as well... I used to overhaul them too... And Karcher pressure cleaners!

Pull it apart and go to any decent hydraulic shop with the bits. Any decent shop will fix you up with a repair kit. The bore might need honing but this is no big deal.

Thanks team, I took the jack/ram out of the Trolley Jack and put it into Manual Hyd's (seem like good people to deal with). It was almost terminal and needs quite a bit of work including a few new bits due to corrosion (that's what you get for leaving a good trolley jack on the back of your tow truck in the rain/heat for 5 or so years).

Looks like I'll be up for about $150 (which is what I guesstimated). I can't believe the price of new workshop quality trolley jacks! Hopefully this one will out live me!
