Anyone know much about these sounders? Mine is not giving a correct return, I am getting a depth reading and sometimes a bottom line but not a full picture. Feeling under the transducer- get a real elec hit, the unit does give a full detail picture on simulater mode. Just thought I would check here before I take the trip to Cairns:o

Gday Greg,Its common with all germin sounders that the transducer moves and is not level this causes the picture to be lost or very weak sometimes its ok when not moving but fades as soon as the boat moves.
Try adjusting the transducer in its cradle up/down abit this usually fixes the problem. Most salesmen tell you to fold the thing up when towing the boat so rocks dont damage it, moving it up/down loosens the cradle and alot of times it moves when moving in the water.
Hope this helps,
Cheers Ean

Just in case anyones ever in the same 'boat' piced up new transducer yesterday,$99-, heard of onother fellow in similar situation-told Garmin not a good product for backup-purchased new sounder $600- out of pocket. Mob I spoke to in Cairns tested unit and if I could have gone in on a weekday tank tested whole unit--backup seemes pretty good to me!!!!
