So with the new cam and a bit of light port matching, should I go for extractors at the same time?

for more power yes...
for more torque no...

it all depends on the design of the extractors wether or not that it will increase power or torque. Eg all exhaust tubes equal length or not, and length of tubes before going into the collector and are they designed to help scavenge exhaust gases from one exhaust port to the other.

You forgot the diameter of the primaries is also important for velocity (torque) and if you use a merge collector on an equal length tuned set of pipes pipes you'll almost equal an interference set for torque below the torque peak.
A balance pipe on a dual system is a must for torque (it evens out the uneven firing pulses of a 90* throw crank) or run equal length secondaries into a reasonable size (2.5" is more than adequate for anything under 4.5 litres) single pipe.

BS :p

90% of marketed extracters follow this rule.
In saying that its only a bees dick less torque down real low.
Hence why all my rangies get extractors and a free flowing exhaust asap.

The stock rangie manifolds are actually quiet good for torque delivery down low.

They work better on the engine than on the auto :p

I put on a decent set of extractors and exhaust fitted by a reputable place in Ringwood (Melbourne).
Ceramic coated Pacemaker headers and a new exhaust made no difference to performance or economy. just makes more noise. I could have kept the $1200 or so and bought something useful.

if you just get a generic set of extractors no

if your going to get a set matched to your new head work yes
