Hi,
I am interested in the purchase of a 2002-4 Freelander.
I think I would prefer a Turbo Diesel manual over the Auto & petrol models.
Could you please advise me on any problems that are inherent to this vehicle & what to look for in a pre purchase inspection.
Thanks in Anticipation

Hi Peter,
Welcome for the forum :)
This section is where members show off their toys - try putting your thread into the Freelander section where the Freelander people hang out - there are some threads there on this topic already, so either you will the info you want from them or someone will help you out.
Cheers

No need to be sorry - there is a lot of information on this forum,in a lot of different areas.
If you have any more questions after having a look at some of the other threads just ask - we will either answer directly or point you in the right direction.
My pick of the Freelander models would be a TD4 Auto - great reliability, good power, good fuel consumption and the auto goes a lot of the way to offset some of the deficiencies of not having low range when offroad.
Good luck:D

The FL is quite a good car, actually. I am surprised, and want one for myself . As for the problems, we have experienced so far a split air intake hose (straight after the turbo), and an annoying intermittent fault where the car on occasions refused to start when warm. Both troubles have been addressed without investment of huge amounts of $$$. How permanently remains to be seen.
All in all the FL can be recommended. Ours is a 2003 Td4 Auto, btw.
Cheers
