Hi there,
od.
previously I had a discovery 300tdi auto and it took auto tramission fluid ATF type D, I have since changed to a 200 tdi defender with the LT77 gearbox in it. I know it takes ATF Dextrose 2 or 3, but will type D be as good.
Thanks Mark:confused:

ATF no longer recommended, use MTF94. Do a search as there is a lot of discussion on this on this forum.

I thought the Disco Auto used a Dex IID type fluid ??? (GM 6297M specification (1975) )
FWIW Dexron II and III are no longer valid specs as there isn't a GM license for them any more (we are up to Dex VI these days and it's backwards compatible) although if you buy a 'compatible' fluid from one of the major blenders it would be OK, eg Castrol Transmax M, Mobil ATF 220, etc.
Personally, as slug_burner suggested, I'd use a good manual transmission fluid like Castrol Syntrans B or Syntrans Max (slightly thinner fluids than 'classic' Syntrans) or Redline MTL and use the ATF for the PAS.
