I revisited this after the 2006 fires, of coarse it was burnt and there is nothing left, although someone went to the trouble of making a stone plaque and lent it up against a tree next to the track down to the river, the grave below is at Collins Flat at the Junction of the Dargo Rd and Farm Tr near at the crossing of the Dargo river, I had some info on the grave but I can't find it, does anyone have any information on the history of the Girl and why she is buried here.

Hey Baz,

This was posted on ExploreOz back in Nov 2005: Mystery Grave -Swifts CK to Dargo (http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/28460/Mystery_Grave_-Swifts_CK_to_Dargo.aspx#ctl00_PageContentBody_Foru mA_ctl05_abox) - (it's apparently a reply from a local cop)

THANKS FOR YOUR NOTE.

THE GRAVE, (ONE ONLY, THE OTHER IS AN OLD MINING SHAFT), IS A HISTORIC ONE RECENTLY MARKED BY LOCAL DEER HUNTERS AND IS KNOWN TO LOCALS AND D.S.E. DARGO.

THANKS FOR THE INTEREST FROM YOUR CONTACT BRUCE

PETER.

Edit: But I see you've already seen the post from the discussion on Australia4WD forum back in January 2006!

Did ya see the joke tho ...

Quote ....
"Dad why are wedding dresses white?"
The father looks at his son in surprise and
says, "Son, all household appliances come in white."

Probably since they were introduced into our environment.

Info on DSE website: What can I hunt (http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/DSE/nrenrt.nsf/LinkView/957C5037A1C9A6CECA25737600195B4F60D73B3E0C65C3CCCA 257375002431D5#3)

Not in WA, but there are millions of deer (and plenty of deer hunters) on the east coast. They even graze in some peoples back yards in Brisbane. Hunters come from far and wide and pay big $$$ to hunt them.

Yes Ben I first came across it in our 05 High Country trip just after the EO guys found it, and I did manage to get some info on it, but I've lost all the data I had.

I did a search as I did back then but all the info I found doesn't seem to be on any of the sites, Deer Hunters, DSE, local Historical mob:(

Getting very OT here, there are deer warning signs on the highway here, and it isn't unusual to see Bambi a victim of a truck or car instead of Skippy.

One of the farriers I know about 10km up and over on the other side of the valley has them come down into his back paddock off the mountain after horse feed.
He bags a few each year for the freezer.

Feel free to send some this way Rick! I love venison, and the only supply over here is a $$$ deer farm at margaret river.

Usually in the districts, there are local historians .... I don't know the place you mention ... but a search of the web site of the "local shire" may turn up a "Community Interests" .... and lead to a history area ... or a local historian ... as it looked as tho it was a "maintained" grave .... so stories must exist :)

O/T .. Deers, I didn't know that :o

Is Cannon Hill Brisbane? Camp Hill? There is a large deer population which live within the green corridor alongside bulimba creek. Very close to the middle of the city.

Yep, about the first green out of the City. I stand corrected.
