Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has some links to a conversion from V8 to TDI? I'm considering buying a 89 model 110 with a 3.5 litre V8 coupled to a five speed. Will anything bolt up to the 5 speed easily? I've seen a coversion where an Izusu truck engine and G/box was fitted but would like to know what other options there are?
Cheers

Hi,
I don't have any links of use and I'm not sure if you mean a conversion to a Land Rover Tdi but if it's helpful, I completed a V8 to 300Tdi conversion about 10 years ago with my 1986 110 County.
I was in the UK at the time and I was able to get the 300Tdi engine, radiator/intercooler and R380 gearbox from a wrecked 90 so it was a very simple conversion. In fact we did most of it on the footpath outside our flat. From memory the only tricky bit was to modify the engine tunnel and to fabricate the engine mounts.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have and/or take photos of the completed conversion if it would help.

I personally would buy a diesel straight of.
More difficult to get parts in OZ and going through engineering etc.
There is a great Izuzu diesel defender for sale by someone on this site right now.
Best of luck.
