Allegedly, she was flying to the USA to see a relative ('sister) who had been given only a day to live - if this is the case then the reaction is somewhat understandable, but nevertheless would not ever get her the outcome she wanted...

I've missed flights by the narrowest of margins a few times now (note: with united Airlines, no amount of layover time is enough for their incompetence) and reacting like that woman did is never going to help the situation. If you are calm and explain your circumstances, you might even get an upgrade on the next flight :D believe it or not, some airlines do have compassion!
