I bought a non Land Rover project car to do up and decided to meet up with the seller this evening to check it all out and exchange paperwork. Both him and his wife are BIG Land Rover fans, they've got/had a Series III, and several Defenders. Needless to say we ended up chatting for hours:D. Excellent couple - must just be a Land Rover thing full stop.
God! I don't know of any other brand of car that can sustain such enthusiasm. It is amazing!
Oh and here is an [appalling quality] picture of the two cheeky blue monsters together. They're are going to get to know each other very well:).

Yes you need a special gene to like a W114/123/126. Wow a 280CE! Nice
This one has actually has quite a lot done to it, and all the paperwork to back it up. Five new injectors, new dash panel, SLS serviced and new control arms, new glow plugs, etc, the values of which exceed my purchase price:p
PS. It has the old grandpa smell even though it wasn't owned by an old grandpa haha.

They are a great car to work on. Everything is beautifully manufactured.
Spares are not too expensive and readily available, from either Mercedes direct, importers and even eBay. I think the W123 was the highest production car quantity by Mercedes with well over 2.5Million produced, so there are a lot of spare parts in wrecker's yards.
Are you a member over on ozbenz.net? Not a lot of activity but a useful forum for questions.

Good to know about the parts.
I agree with what you say. Everything seems to just fall to hand without having to think about it. Even the instrumentation and they way the doors have such a positive clunk when shut is, well, "unlike any other".
I'm on ozbenz too.

Love them love them love them. I even enjoy working on Volkswagens too,:o
I just did a brake job on a w123 300d, what a beautiful drive it was. Only had 200k on the clock, and was in fantastic order.
Just got to find one now...:(

There was 300TD near you but I could never get onto the seller.
Allegedly this one I've picked up cost $42,500 new in 1981. That was a lot of money back then I take it.
