Gearbox is getting worse, leaping out of second, for those that aren't sitting in the County with me, and starting to grind between shifts.
And I'm about to move.
I've been offered a LT85 out of a V8 County, will it fit?

Edit: And can someone explain why I sold my transmission lifter? What kid of idiot thinks they're never going to need it again?

Not good news about the box Simon:(
There are 2 types of LT85 also to confuse the issue. There is a 'lighter duty' split case model, recognisable by the main case that can be split down the middle, and the heavier duty version that hasn't got a 2 piece main case. Having said that, I believe the bellhousings are interchangeable, and therefore will fit a Isuzu bellhousing. The Isuzu LT85's were originally V8 ones anyway.

PS, I can't believe you sold your transmission lifter!

the bell housings change over from both varients of the box and also from the diesel to the v8.
keep the housing you have and bolt up the other box to it.
its not quite as easy as it sounds but its not far from it.

Picked up replacement LT85 today, from what I can tell it is the less-desirable split-case version, oh well.
The shaft that goes to the engine - sorry, just don't know what it's called - is a bit floppy.
Hoping it's a bearing that needs replacing.
Can anyone tell me what it's called and if there is a special bearing I should be seeking out? Y'know, better for not be thrashed by the Isuzu.

It's an input shaft and they are a bot floppy as there's only a taper roller bearing holding them at the gearbox end, your spigot bush in the flywheel supports it at the other end.

agreed, bolt up the clutch mech (dummy up the slave cylinder) to it and then wiggle it again with the trans in 4th.
my rough check is if you can move it enough to bind up the clutch fork in the fully released position it has too much play.

Why dont you get hold of an LT95 (cheap these days) and change it over. If you are using it behind an Isuzu the best place for an LT85 is on the garage floor (as a talking piece)!!!!

I have a plethora of gearboxes.:D
Bearman, I'm moving house in a couple of weeks, starting uni the same week, and, and, and, the new house is an hour and a half away, and I need to have a gearbox in the car and I don't want to mess about with cdl switches and stuff.

Put an LT95 in it and forget you had a 5th gear, unnecessary things in an Isuzu County.
In 4th an LT95 will cruise at 110+ all day, every day. If it's to loud, get a better stereo.

Try one with a broken exhaust mount so the note reverbs through the cabin, whilst wearing Simex's
