my chipped 130 is way down on power:(

simptons are as follows

if i drive at a normal pace it seems to be fine
but once i start to load up the go pedal it seems to go flat and blows heaps of black smoke and no go
seems to be using heaps of fuel as well the exhaust is covered in black soot

Sounds like my TD5 Disco was, intercooler hoses made a huge difference!

What revs does it lose power? I had fuel pump go on Weds. seemed to rev fine up to 3500 then just would not go higher even if foot flat to floor, also had no guts. No smoke noticed, no errors on ECU but noticed when I got home no sound of pump. Checked power at pump working ok, guage was ok but nothing from pump. Put in a new one and now all well again...:D When I took the old pump off it was covered in black slime, sputtered a bit when connected to battery but effectively u/s.

Still new here but could I suggest disconnecting the MAF sensor and giving it a run, sounds similar to symptoms described else where on the forum.:)
Easy thing to check and discount quickly.
Replace the EGR as the amount of gunk you find in the inlet is hideous.
Much reduced smoke on mine after fitting the blanking kit.
Cheers Lionel

you don't need a Nanocom to work out what faults you have, just ask your wife;):p

I had dramas with my chipped 130 TD5 on way to the Cooma 60th from perth last year. Kept loosing power. Turned out to be the electronic throttle control. If you have fitted cruise control see if it runs ok on cruise. If so the throttle might be the problem
