As above, my Son is driving across today and he was told it was over $3.00/Lt, he filled up in Kalgoorlie at $1.07, so if it is that dear he's in for a shock to his wallet, Regards Frank.

Sounds like someone was pulling his leg. I went across in Oct and Nov 08, when ULP was $1.51 in Sydney it was at most $1.97 at Madura Pass. Mindrabilla was $1.80 but I think it might've been E80 because I had really poor fuel economy. It was definitely an ethanol blend but they wouldn't say how much.

Haven't been across for a couple of years now Frank and have no idea on the latest prices - but I've done it quite a few times and never seen it get up to even double Kal prices - so $3 sounds a bit on the high side.

I usually top up in Norseman, then at the border if I need to, and from there can easily get through to Pt Augusta - but unless he's got some spare containers in that thing, I suppose he'll be stopping at nearly all of them.

Will certainly keep the lead out of the right foot anyway. Hope the trip goes without trouble for him.

Brian, Myles took 3x 20L drums with him which he filled in Kal at $1.07/L, when he got to Norseman the bloke in the garage said fuel on the Nullabor was $3.00/L (mongrel) so Myles bought another 3x 20L drums and filled them as well.
Turns out the dearest fuel was $1.68/L, so he has been running the fuel tank to empty and topping up, he has been averaging 18/19L/100klm, which isn't bad for a Stage 1 w/out the High Speed gears, he's sitting on about 90/95Klms/h, he got booked for a noisy muffler in Eucla and at the moment is about 50klms from Hay in NSW, he's having a bit of trouble with the clutch on take off, maybe hydraulics, he will check fluid levels in Hay, will let you know when he gets home, Regards Frank.

Mundrabilla is the cheapest, and then Eucla. These are the only 'independents' - owned by the SAFF the South Australian Farmers' Federation. I will fuel up there to keep down the cost and also to provide competition to the almost monopoly of the rest of them. The rest are owned by one company and so the prices tend to get jacked up. If you fill up at the WA border the prices at Eucla on the WA side are cheaper that at Border Village on the SA side.

This has been our consistent experience over the last 12 tears of travelling over the Nullarbor every few years.
