John Brabyn and I have written up the procedure here:

Heater Core O-Ring Replacement (http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/heateroring.html)

The page is a little out of date, I have to do a complete rewrite. We now recommend using a hole saw to cut an access hole in the RH panel.

See Heater Core O-Ring Replacement (http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/heateroring.html#optional1)

Before removing the pipes mark them top and bottom. Get them around the wrong way and they will leak because they will be at the wrong angle in the sockets

See http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/hevac/heatercore.html#heatercore

On reassembly, DO NOT overtighten the screw or you will crack the heater housing plastic where the pipes enter and it will leak under pressure. To give you an idea of size, the hole to the right of the pic below is the hole for the clamp screw.

Thanks Ron
Great info,do you have to drain the radiator ? also the crosshead screw, can you get a decent fit with a normal scewdriver,or need a flexable one.
Thanks Paul

With a long screwdriver and the holes as pictured, you can reach it.

Yes, drain the radiator. Check the workshop manual on how to refill it without an airlock and consequent overheating.

Thanks for all the tips.
Unfortunatly last night 7 p platers in one vehicle, slammed into the side of my p38 ,wrote the car off,and put my wife and i in st vincents.
Must be the shortest membership ever...2 days.
I will be on the lookout for another,of the same.
No doubt i will need your expert advise again soon.

Paul.

Brummy, i hope you and your wife have a speedy recovery.

Ron, if a car has a holesaw hole drilled in the drivers side of the dash, behind the trim abour level with the radio, does this indicate replaced blend motors or replaced heater o rings?

Seeing as Ron is away for a couple of days, I'd suggest it's for the heater core O rings.
