ome springs

I bought another defender 110 and it has OME springs and shocks already.
It doesn't sit as high as my old defender which had King springs and polyairs. It has OME 761s in the front and 762s in the rear.
Any ideas what springs I should have?
I normally carry a bit of gear in the back and ofcourse heaps more when we go bush.
On the rear I was thinking medium duty OME 755s plus Polyairs
or HD OME 754s .
I think the fronts might be OK as I dont have a winch fitted but do have an ARB winch bar and only will fit the spare on the bonnet when going bush.
I like the soft spring for articulation but dont want the arse end to drag when loaded hence the Polyairs option.
What are you thoughts ?

I would go the lighter spring with air bags for ride comfort and articulation when empty. I have a pair of those OME HD springs they are bloody huge and i will be changing them out for some softer ones but same height, they give about 5.5'' bump stop clearance at the rear from memory. maybe repost in the tech section for more response:D

I totally agree.I changed mine back to standard,if you want a bone jarring ride buy a toyota. Pat

If you have 762 springs in the rear it must be a 90 as the 110 and 130 have different sized rear coils. Rangie, Disco and Defender front coils are interchangeable but only the 90 has the same sizs rear coils.
755 and 754's are for 110 and 130. How high do you want it to sit? if it's a 110 If you put 764 in the front with the bar and 755's in the rear with a 20mm solid spacer under the rear spring base it wil be about 2.5 inches above standard and flex and ride surprisingly well. 764 are a 220lb disco/rangie rear coil but work well in the front of a Defender.

Rangie Spares/LRA (Actually Browns Springs) have a 220lb/17" free length spring that works really well in the front of a Defender.

Don't know what he was measureing but 764 are 430mm driver,420mm pass, 8 coils,16mm bar and 220lb rate. Biggest varience i've seen was about 5mm in free height and we measure every coil we put in.
Edit, just had another look at that spring chart and those could be specs for 766 coils which are isuzu county front coils 420mm free height 250lb and off the top of my head about that many coils, i'll check tomorrow.

I got myself the 2766 front and 2754 on the rear of my unladed stock 110 and the ride was so harsh that it was diffcult to drive. The landy was jumping all the time.

The reason I bought the above springs is that I want to make my 110 a full-fledged expedition vehicle but not right away. So now I have ordered the 2751 front and 2752 rear OME sprngs. I already have the OME nitrocharger sport shocks front and rear and the Terrafirma RTC steering damper.

Hopefully with the 751 and 752 I will have amuch better ride. Later when I add the rollcage, roofrack, rear wheel carrier plus spare wheel and other expedition gear I will change the springs back to 766 and 754 respectively.

Any inputs from you guys.

I have OME 2767 coil on the front and standard L/R coil on the rear with poly air sits and rides nice, in total lifted the front by about 40mm .

Also fitted T/F big bore standard length shocks and a 10mm coil spacer to rear and T/F super Pro +50 shocks to the front .

Same free length and less winds (ie. less total wire) to get a lift gives a stiffer ride and probably less articulation than standard, or definitely less droop travel with standard length dampers so probably more chance of lifting a wheel in the bush, but that's where TC comes in, eh ;)

You would think that , but taking into account the extra weight of the bull bar and winch yet to be fitted it seems ok at the moment . Il fit the winch and report back . Since fitting the T/F shocks even better than before.

I didn't measure the length before I fitted them so no .
