So I'm now the proud owner of a 2003 RR,the trouble is I don't know about the diff trouble they have.Is the diff no good or is the drive shaft the problem.Rovacraft sell a drive shaft spline that fix's something with the shaft, is that the diff trouble you guys mention or is it a seperate one.Just lastly I drove from perth to Kagoorlie on 47ltres,thats 650k's!! and a few times when the cruise wasn't on it was very easy to do 130-140 without knowing it.What a machine. Hi Pat, it’s the spline that goes and when it does, the RR does not go.
It’s not drivable and in most cases there is no advance warning.
The thing is now covered by Land Rover and many have been replaced in a recall, but double check that yours has been done.
I believe this is being done at Land Rovers expense, whether the RR is still under factory warranty or not.
Again check that it is a recall with your local LR dealer and they should also be able to tell you if your RR has already been done.
As to your speed, this has got to be the most speed deceptive vehicle I’ve ever driven.
I had had mine for about a month when I was out west, on a country road. I came around a long corner and saw a farm tractor part the way down a long straight, so I floored the RR to get around the tractor before I got back into some winding road, just up ahead.
I went around the tractor with ease and moved back over to the left side of the road. As I did, I just glanced at the speedo and then had to have a good look at it.
I had already back off to let the RR get back to the speed limit but I was doing 180 as I was overtaking.
This is one vehicle that lives on cruise control just to keep the speed down.
I even use the cruise control around town because you just seem to be going so slow all the time when you are not.

BTW Pat, these are built to use on the European expressways and the tyre pressure sticker on the door pillar of my 08 RR has two sets of pressures listed. One set pressures for speeds under 160 k/h and another for speeds over 160 k/h.

3.0ltr TD.Man it goes. It's my partners car and she's had it up to 140k/hr on her first test drive, like me she didn't realise.Tim how do I know if the drive shaft has been fixed?,it does have a vibration in reverse when you turn it other than that smooth as silk,do I give LR a call as it has been factory serviced from new.I'm loving the thing. The 3.0 is a very nice car to drive. Much better than the 4.4 IMO.
If it has been serviced by LR from new, then the diff should have been sorted by now. Send me a PM with the last 6 of your VIN & I'll see what has been & what hasn't been done.
