Has anyone taken visitors from really "remote" areas shopping?

Well, I THOUGHT I was almost an expert at it.

So yesterday, I happily took 2 lovely Yolngu ladies (from Gapuwiyak in NE Arnhem Land where the only shop is an IGA-type store) shopping for some clothes to wear to a wedding they are attending in Sydney today.

As many of you may know, our daughter is married to a Yolngu man and they often come down for a bit of R & R and a big shopping session. It's always a great pleasure to take them exploring the shopping centres and I never feel tired afterwards and they always go home happy with plenty of excess baggage.

But 2 ladies and a 6 year old - looking for long dresses - and skirts/blouses/shoes/ bags/perfumes/ hair care items - all to be purchased in one day. Quite frankly, last night, I was absolutely stuffed - maybe I'm getting too old!

Finally, they got the gear they wanted and this morning we dropped them off into the city to the Sebel at Pier One, (where they are staying tonight and where the wedding is happening) and there, berthed at Circular Quay was the "Diamond Princess", what a monster of a ship!! Traffic diversions, impatient drivers (and pedestrians, I might add) made the trip less pleasant than it should have been. But at least they got there on time.

Now we have 24 hours to relax before we pick the ladies up and bring them back here for a further 6 days before they head back to Gapuwiyak...More shopping I suppose.

Erich will no doubt hide somewhere:)

And today is our 34th Wedding Anniversary:D:D

Oh well....Life is certainly a learning curve....

But right now, I might just pour myself a glass of red and relax.

Didnt take them shopping ,but we did do this.

One of my brothers managed Uluru NP for a few years, and came over for a holiday with a couple, man & wife of Aboriginal elders, crossing the Simpson, etc. We took them to the sea,the Gold Coast, and they were absolutely amazed, having never seen it before.

We also took them for a drive up to Tamborine Mountain, and they were scared stiff because of the heights, they were in the back of the Troopy holding on for dear life.....

Anyway it was all in good fun, most things over here amazed them.

They couldnt wait to get back home....
