Just got home from the show......apart from meeting up with a couple of AULRONIANS (Gavin & Hiline) at the High Country Huts Assoc, I have to say that it was a pretty disappointing day in comparison to past years. There was the usual ARB display, a pretty minor Ironman tent, a few displays of spotties etc and the usual plethora of camp ovens/bush cooking gear and one or two other gadgets. Oh, and lets not forget the camper trailers..... lots of those.
Where were all the 4wd accessory vendors?
I specifically wanted a replacement hook for my winch... you know, the yellow ones what cope easily with a tree protector. I couldn't find one:mad:

What did others think?

Numbers were definitely down; I think a combination of credit crisis, day of mourning and general worry about bushfire. However, despite that it was a good show and if you wanted to chat to people there was a bit more time to do it, plus some end of day bargains.

There were at least two places you could have got your hook from.

I thought the show was fine, always good for a look around. But it was definately down on both crowd and exhibitors. I picked up a stainless steel snorkel for the Rangie project. I have no idea if it was a good deal or not, but it saves me having to make one.

I saw the yellow hooks too. :p

I was looking forward to seeing the OZ Rock demo....anyone know what happenend?

A mate and I came down from Canberra. We help run the 4WD Spectacular (next one is Sat 13 & Sun 14 Feb 2010), so were interested in how the show runs, exhibitors etc etc. The show certainly had lots of space, liked the wider aisles, the PA worked well, a number of different types of traders than we get at Queanbeyan. VERY GOOD 4WD Adventure Track (makes our Test Track pretty lame!), and that club members provided the cars. Maybe not as many traders as we get, but more club displays & vehicle displays including the Army (and getting the 6wd Unimog bogged!)
Our summary: good show, lot of effort setting up for just 1 day, some traders and lots of punters were put off by the fires.

Swung by near the end to chase up parts and advice. Didn't see much or catch any AULROians.

Did give me a chance to do a quick repair on grass instead of sides of the road. I was also still covered in soot, oil and dirt from the fire clenup so probably didn't help.

Yes. It was from millweld customs, they had a stand at the show. I don't pick it up till Friday but will post pic then.
They had a lot of good stuff for the Rangie & D1.

well I felt the need to join the forum so I could say something....

If you played your music loud then yeah you were out of order, but sometimes people dont realise how loud things are when they are drunk thats generally why they shout!

being aggressive to someone like that is just not on and I cant believe the people of that forum think its ok.......:no2:

I also can't believe the comment of the other guy to restrict camping to club members only......that is the most idiotic comment, they would lose a fair few people

ITS VERY HARD TO DRIVE FROM SYDNEY FOR A SHOW THAT IS 10HRS AWAY spend a couple of hours looking around then come home....what is that bloke on!!!

besides I think its pretty silly holding a show on a sun anyway why dont they hold it on a sat So everone can have all day at the show and then camp? rather than camp and then go to the show and drive home..I should think there are a fair few people that travel down to that show!

EDIT: I never joined the forum to bloody hard keot telling me the auth code was wrong :D

I think the point is the LROCV guy didn't ask if they could turn it down, he went in guns a blazin, turn the f'n music off and started pushing one of the guys! IF he had have come in like the second guy and said, hey guys its a little loud can you please turn it down, then all would have been ok, like it was!! so i'm told

the point they were making on their forum...is that who ever got pushed (was it you rangieman) got everything he deserved

Personally I think that is a disgusting attitude to take and they should be ashamed.
Violence is not the answer.......they should lead by example IMHO

if the show was on saturday and you had a 10 hr drive you would drive down on friday, if its on sunday you drive back on monday. either way you take a day off work.
if your more of a local and work saturdays then sunday is better for the show.
having met barney at bazzas tent at cooma i had a bit of a chat with him over the weekend. when i was leaving at 7pm sunday he was borrowing an extension lead and power from the shows organisers as all their batterys were flat. i guess what im saying is that lroc will try to help when they can and that barney and his mates were also camping sunday night and heading home sunday morning

Was good to see the AULROian group camping there again this year. Most will not agree with Club only campers so don't worry about that. At this stage, numbers appear to be about 400 up on last year, just more spread out over the day due to slightly milder weather.

Did anyone go on a Joy Flight? At $40 it was quite reasonable compared to other events I've been to.

Oz Rock was a great disappointment for Clubs, Visitors but most of all Show Committee. A lot of expense and effort was dedicated to this attraction which didn't eventuate.

Did anyone notice the cheaper food from last year? Hopefully we won't see $11 souvlakis at the Show for a long time.

Sorry to hear it still wasn't cheap enough. Do you recall which food court you bought the roll from, FC1 near the ARB Articulation Trailer, FC2 near the bus stop and closest to the Helicopter or FC3 where all the Clubs were nearest the front gate?

I can assure you the food was definitely cheaper than previous years and now comparable if not cheaper than like events.

Great to see you made the trip down.

I had a brief wander round quite late in the day but didn't stick around all that long.

Seemed a reasonable selection of stalls/info/etc to me but then i'd never been before so had no point of reference to compare it to.

Still, I purchased the d2 arb winch bar i've been looking for for a while at a good price so was well worth the trip and entry fee to my mind.

So I wasnt there, neither were a lot of people who have commented.

I dont find it all that appealing to think that you want to shove a keybourd up my behind Dean, I really dont get off on those sort of things and Im not wanting to know what you get off on thanks very much.

I think that that group that were in that camp are just a bunch of backstabbing knobbs that are also a bunch of old gossiping women who have nothing better to do than to whinge about me and what I post.

Why the hell would I want to camp with you lot again, once was enough out at sheepyard when I stopped you Dean from falling into the fire to then have you try and urinate on me.

Did I make a thing out of it.....NO but seems your such a big man and want to have a go I have now posted it so now everyone knows what a dirty bugger you are when drunk.

So you took it as a personal insult that I think that people should wear PPE when using dangerouos equipment........get over it, it wasnt personal, it was pretty general until you made a big deal of it.

Matt, your just a spectator and love to start crap and watch it fly while feeding the fire as much as you can.

Chris, you have back stabbed me for the last time, Ive helped you out with mechanical work, cheap fire wood and meals while you were waiting for your daughter to finish dancing, Ive done everything I could to make you feel welcome in my home and you seem to feel it is being funny or appropriate to put me down and gossip about me to the rest of that group, as I said in the other thread, dont bother coming around again thanks.

Ray.........put me back on your Ignore list, you have way to many problems to deal with on a forum starting with you have to be incharge of everything and you dont like anyone thinking along different lines to you and if they do you bully them by building little gangs around you and banning the members to talk to the person your bullying.

I was bullyed out of the huts group as was other people because not only did I have a bit more of an understanding of what was happening up there than they did (in real terms and not what is written in the DSE and Parks manuals or what they see on today tonight) and then I didnt appreaciate being set up to fail by being offered an HMO position just because of my surname.

Ive gone out of my way to help out a lot of folks on this board, Ive got them work, done work for them, offered advice or chased up/picked up parts as what most people would do yet you all seem to feel that Im not worth the comon decency that you expec t yourselves.

Yeah im out spoken and I say what I think, I also will accept it well if you prove me wrong and I dont hold it against anyone who does.

There are plenty of people on here that have stoushes with eachother from time to time but there are few that I wouldnt have a beer with but I honestly think that this small group of people who were camped at wandin together are not worth the bother as you ahve a beer with them and the next week your the one they are bullying.

The list of oust is like this if you need to get an idea,

-Sclarke, rovercare, D110V8d when the huts group began due to them wanting to use the huts groups name to drive on closed tracks so were ousted and bitched about QB weekend at sheepyard for the UJH trip

-rovercare showed up anyway and was accepted but bitched about the next day'

-Sclarke, D110V8d were then included back in the group as they needed muscle and numbers so bridges were mended and due to a slip of the fingers on my behalf which I have appologised for several times they got their backs up with me

This then led to -

-Rangieman, Sschmez, Grumpybastard and others to be pretty much forced out of the group for a while
-GB was accepted back in but was possibly told that he should not speak to myself or Mrs Mc if he wanted to be part of the group
-Sschmez was much the same but went about things on his own mapping huts and doing his own thing through VHCHA instead until they took him back no doubt for the contacts.
-There have been other infights and I have been taken back in a couple of times once offered and HMO position and once offered the mods job for the huts group but I cant be bothered with the stupid unnessesary infighting and power plays.

They have now started their own board for the huts group that is not attached to the forum as well as a private section which I believe is actually closed but I may be wrong there.

Thats it folks

Got that popcorn smiley Matt, I think you will need it.

if the show was on saturday and you had a 10 hr drive you would drive down on friday, if its on sunday you drive back on monday. either way you take a day off work.
if your more of a local and work saturdays then sunday is better for the show.
having met barney at bazzas tent at cooma i had a bit of a chat with him over the weekend. when i was leaving at 7pm sunday he was borrowing an extension lead and power from the shows organisers as all their batterys were flat. i guess what im saying is that lroc will try to help when they can and that barney and his mates were also camping sunday night and heading home sunday morning

cheers neil
good one Neil, the tardis got us home about a day and a half before we left for wandin in the first place. really love fooling around with the time continuum

Yea, I like to watch:twisted:

.

????Huh????

I had no issues, showed up with a mate, drenched and was kindly welcomed to use the fire to dry our swags, drank booze and had a great time and met some nice people, even ol' mate, who fed us a roast from his camp oven:) I never had an interest in the huts group in regards to being an active member, as its to far for me to travel, I do think the work done is excellent and was very impressed, with the professionalism that is undertaken in doing so, both in regards to the work shown on this forum and the display at Wandin

I'm still struggling to understand how you came to the conclusion that I "bitched" by any means, I was only there for the meet and greet;)

And wanting to drive on closed tracks?????

Got that popcorn smiley Matt, I think you will need it.

You know....I actually hate popcorn, but having come back from a big bike ride in the scrub, I'll happily munch my scotch and watch this thread turn to ****:D

McRover,
WTF is the attack about....

I made it perfectly clear on the forum that we had sorted out our issues. I called you up and we got it off our chest. Not once since the phone call have i "attacked" you or flamed one of your posts.

But 2 times in the past 6 hours you have made a "personal attack" at me.

ive said it before and i'll say it again. "Seek HELP"

You're a tripper dude.

When this whole thing started I suggested we take a look at some walk in huts and you take it as an attack on you, saying that I know you cant walk in due to health reasons and I'm trying to keep you out of the group. I hadn't even met you at this stage.;) How does walking in on closed tracks get to wanting to drive on closed tracks?

You think everything is about you. Guess what.....we've all forgotten about it, moved on and actually gone out and done some great work to the huts in the high country, some of which are in the areas you say were so precious and sacred to your family and it's heritage etc etc.....I dont see you up there doing anything.

Get over it McRover......let it go and get on with life.
