Hello Gents, I've not had too much experience with the TD5 engine. A client of mine has said that LR have supplied him with two oil filters???By this I mean two separate filters. Can anyone tell me where the second filter is hiding???Thanks for any help.
Oh the vehicle is a 01 Discovery.
Regards Russell.

Yep 2 filters.

One is under the domed cover by the turbo, other one is the main filter and is under the exhaust manifold, by the down pipe.

Not that hard unless it has a genuine filter, then you'll need to remove the turbo drain pipe to get it out:mad:

Replace it with a Cooper oil filter, it's a bit shorter and you won't need to remover the turbo drain pipe next time;)

My '99 needed the drain pipe loosened because the pipe wasn't attached to the block at the correct angle, but no problems with my '03 and LR filters.

This "may" help a little,

www.discovery2.co.uk / Oil and Filter change (http://www.discovery2.co.uk/oil_change.html)

I dont have any issues using genuine filters on my 01.

I seem to remember the first time i did mine it had a LR filter and i had no probs either, but this time i did, the spinning filter has never been a problem, i think i remember someone else having the same problem just recently.

I'll check the turbo drain pipe tonight though.

Perhaps it is the positioning of the turbo oil drain on individual TD5s that is an issue??????
Mine has no issue, mate in town with a 130TD5 has to remove the drain.
