Thats terrible news. I do hope everyone gets thru this.

My work is granting me up to a weeks leave at a time to assist if we are called upon. I hope there are more employers like that out there. Get this fire out once and for all.

I live about two minutes from the fire area. We were north west of the fire so the dense smoke was blowing away from us. You could tell from the colour of the smoke that a house had gone up.

The kids even saw our area on the TV and were asking how close are we. They even asked about Elvis.

Half an hour later Elvis flew over. Noisy...just unbelievable. It was about 80 metres up and it just shook the house and rattled every window.

The kids and I rushed outside to see it almost hovering. Huge is an understatement.

We get a grandstand seat from our house. It was unreal on Ash Wednesday to see those two huge Canadian aerial bombers fly over our house and dump water on the flames. What I cant understand is why we are going to spend $15billion on high tech submarines and SFA- relatively- on an actual threat.
We need 10 of these planes on standby every summer:mad:

Bunningyong is near Ballaarat, quite a distance from Belgrave. (somewhere around 140km)

Cheers Mick.
