Hello all,
I'm in melbourne and have just got my nanocom, and it seems that all the alarm/keyless locking electronics/hardware is in the Defender, does anyone have a defender TD5 with keyless entry so I could drop in/meet somewhere and see if I can program my car to use your keyfob before I order a new keyfob from the UK?
I'd be happy to read/clear your faults with the nanocom in return.

Cheers,
Fraser

Not necessarily. My Td5 110 didn't come with them. I bought some later from a dealer and had it programmed.

Just go into your dealer and if they can they will program a remote up for you - should cost about $60. I had two Td5s that I got without keyless entry, and just bought a keyfob from the dealers which they programmed for me. I can't imagine it would be any cheaper to get one from the UK by the time you've finished stuffing around with postage.

I was told that the early (2001-2003) Td5 Defenders were all capable of having keyless entry, but were sold without it for tax purposes?!? Apparently it changed the import category or something if they had these "luxury" items.

Just be aware, it usually takes a couple of goes before the programming "sticks".

Mine has central locking which is controlled by the same remote that turns the alarm on.

All defenders from 2002 should have this, exception is the 130.

Hard top doesn't have it on the rear door. Only station wagons do. But the 2/4 passenger doors (90/110) should all have this.

Or at least, thats the situation in the UK.

Only problem is...mines broken :(

solmanic, I priced them from ULR, $100 each for 433Mhz, $200 for 315Mhz
Excluding programming!
I can get them for around $60 delivered from the UK new.
But I just want to make doubly sure that the hardware in the car is operational.

That's CRAZY! I'm sure that both times I had tags programmed for my Td5's the dealer only charged me the $60 fee for the tag (but that could surely have gone up). Maybe because I got the programming done whilst it was in for a service they didn't bother charging me for that.

I don't remember being given a choice of frequencies though.
