Going by THIS (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/landroverwolf/) article looks to me that the UK military is using the Tdi 300 :eek:

That's one good reason why the Wolfs are that popular.
Cheers

havent read the article, but from what i've read, the brits were having the devils own time trying to sort out the TD5's electronics against RF and EMF issues without spending millions.....

The Storm wasn't able to be used as it didn't comply with military specs, too much electrical/electronic 'noise' and Land Rover UK couldn't quieten it sufficiently for military use, so they used the Gemini. (The Gemini was still being used up till 18 months or so ago for 3rd world markets)

Land Rover Australia undertook a similar exercise just before Ford bought Land Rover so that the existing ADF vehicles could be re-powered with the Storm and where successful where the UK weren't, but PAG/Ford canned the project on takeover.

For reference

Storm = TD5
Gemini = 200/300Tdi engine family
Puma = genus of big cat containing the Cougar and Jaguarundi, oh, and apparently a Ford Transit engine :D

And they were really ****ed off when LRA did it for A$100,000 :D
A mate of mine headed the team and he had to fly to Solihull with the new harness in his case so they could fit it and test it to prove to them that it worked, even though it had been exhaustively tested here :lol2:
Too late for the UK though.

Yeah they have been useing 300 Tdis for ages. And they are tweaked by Land Rover and go like the clappers. Many a time i was doing 150 kph on the motorway in my old Vw passat company car when an Army 90 or 110 would come tanking up behind you flashing for you to get out of the way

But as they went from 110 and 90 , 2.5 diesel to these you saw alot of them on their roof or side after they army lads had rolled them because they had been going too fast. Land Rover took them back and detuned them from the original as they were too fast , but they are stil pretty well tuned and go like the clappers

It would be interesting to find out which kind of tune up have the Tdi 300 over there?
I do not mind to increase a bit the performance of my Defe.

Thank you Rick, I was thiking that the UK army have done more than that for the Tdi300 delivery so much power and speed :eek:
Perhaps a diferent type of turbo?

Don't know mate, a certain 130 I know would only do a genuine 145+km/h on 33.3" muddies, roof rack and rear canopy still in place.
It sports a full mandrel bent 3" exhaust and the fuel turned right up and that's it, no more to come. Air resistance overcomes power.

I read many years ago that by fitting a lexan plate on a 30 degree angle on the hood the aerodynamics was improved on the FJ40 and on the 109.
This plate help the air do not hit the windscreen.
I guess that would help but perhaps not a great deal.

Which kind of muffler they fitted with the 3" exaust pipe?

<snip>

Which kind of muffler they fitted with the 3" exaust pipe?

At the time, none :eek:
It then had an off the shelf resonator I fitted right at the back, and now has a small straight through home made one in the middle too.
I made my own as I wasn't happy with the internal finish in the off the peg one, and I'm cheap :D
It's still too loud, but I live with it.
